2024 Fantasy Football Thread

Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of January. Through 95 drafts, my exposures are below. The player order is based on current ADP. Some of these ADPs have been quite fluid over the last 3 months, with FAs and rookies moving the most. Most of my exposures are structurally driven, rather than player take driven. Especially at this point in the game, pre-draft.

But there are some players I simply couldn't avoid going heavy on, like McBride and Andrews in the 5th round. I'm actually quite heavy all of the top TEs, minus LaPorta and Kincaid. I also tried to make sure I had at least 1 TE by the end of round 8, with Ferguson being the last of the group.

Also took approaches like attacking Nabers and Odunze harder than MHJ, at their relative prices.

What do we like and not like?

Rookie season is also upon us. Redraft is still 3.5 months away from heating up, but there will be rookie drafts, dynasty startups, and best ball drafts leading up until then.

Good luck to all, and may injuries and variance be kind.

Got a team I kinda like in bbm, even though I drafted players I’m trying to get less shares of lol (swift fell to 103, Kendre at 200, Franklin at 210)

Qb - Allen, Carr (****, I just realized they’re both w12 byes as I’m typing this fml)

Rb - R White, Brooks, Swift, Javonte, R Davis, Kendre

Wr - JJ, Olave, Evans, C Samuel, Mwill, AD, McMillan, Franklin

Te - Pitts, Fant

thanks slippin jimmy!

we're just drafting, no salaries or anything. so when you say "invest" in elite QB, the only thing i'd be investing is a pick

Yeah sorry I meant like a high pick. Idk how early QBs and TEs will go in your league, so hard to say for sure. It’s one of those things you kinda have to feel out

Like if hurts is available in the 4th, I’d grab him for sure, but if he’s going in the 3rd I’d pass (assuming standard or .5 ppr, in ppr I may wait even then)

You can think of investing in terms of where a player is drafted based on their value.

Getting Mahomes in the 6th round would be a great investment.

Getting Geno in the 3rd round would be a terrible investment.

I have no idea if this is standard or not lol

thanks a lot guys! I really appreciate it.

last year was the first time I watched football in a long time. so I barely even know the players lol... just going by the average pick depth

This is .5ppr, so I’m more likely to draft an elite qb in this format. So if you can get Hurts in the 4th, Lamar / Mahomes late 4th early 5th I’d be excited to draft them. Allen I think goes way too early in home LGs so probably not an option, but if he’s there in the 4th same thought.

For TE, it kinda depends on the opportunity cost. I like the top 8 a lot at their cost in best ball. I don’t know their costs in season long, so it’s hard to say. I think guys like Ferguson/Njoku/Goedert/Bowers are perfectly fine in season long

QB - Purdy, Tua, Nix

RB - Breece, Mostert, Chubb, Zeke, Tracy Jr.

WR - Waddle, DJM, Flowers, Keenan, Wicks, Mooney, Franklin, DPJ, Malik

TE - Kittle, Otton, Fant

What happened to me at qb in this draft was so tilting. Every qb went 10 picks over ADP that I could stack (except Caleb who fell). Took Carr with the intent of Juwan bc there were 6 TEs ahead of him by ADP and someone grabbed him

Qb - Caleb, Carr , JJ

Rb - Monty, Brooks, Charb, Dowdle, Lloyd, Herbert

Wr - JJ, Deebo, Evans, Rice, Odunze, Nuk (92), McMillan

Te - McBride, Dulcich

I was able to get AJB/Wilson thanks to Saquon and Josh being drafted in the 1st.

QB - Hurts, Baker, Fields

RB - Walker, Warren, Singletary, Hubbard, Prince, Laube

WR - AJB, Wilson, Pittman, Godwin, Sutton, Shaheed, Palmer, Austin

TE - Ferguson, Musgrave, Fant

Damn, one guy in that draft hit gin on his stacks.

Mahomes with Kelce, Rice, Worthy, and a handcuffed Irv Smith
Herbert with LMC, Palmer, and Quentin.

He didn't have to reach for anyone.

I've just been going off Yahoo average depth pick. is that really stupid? or is it a decent predictor of how the players will do?

I’d use like fantasy pros or some other free rankings over yahoo adp

I'm def willing to pay if I can get better rankings

If you want to pay, I think ETR (establish the run) are one of the best rankings

But I think just a free rankings is more than sufficient

Just noticed that Puka has a potential knee injury (unfortunately I noticed after I drafted him)

thanks Jimmy!

I think Hayden is pretty solid for being free, but there is definitely some nuance and interpretation. He adds a lot of notes though, which I like.

Tough to know how to react right now.

I use fantasy pros draft rankings to help my drafting as it averages a bunch of “pro” rankings. Make sure you are using .5 PPR rankings if you use them.

Fantasy pros is also a good source for other fantasy tools (trade analyzer, league analyzer, etc.)

Drafted the all ambiguous injury team (mostly by accident). Got sniped on Chark, didn’t feel like Rice or Hurst did anything for my team, so went with naked Herbert well past ADP

Qb - Mahomes, Herbert

Rb - Warren, Brooks, Spears, Javonte, Lloyd, prince

Wr - Puka, London, Worthy, Godwin, Legette, R Wilson, LMC, Boyd

Te - Kelce, Henry

Speaking of rankings. I tried RotoGrinders for this one, and got all sorts of messed up. Still ended up with some correlation but it just looks weird.

QB - AR, Trevor

RB - Achane, Moss, Ekeler, Gibson, Braelon, Pierce

WR - Lamb, Aiyuk, Kirk, LMC, Downs, AD, Slayton, Malik, Toney

TE - Andrews, Muth, Chig

Seems fine, what don’t you like about it?

I’m not the biggest fan of Moss right now and Ekeler at dk ADP is not my favorite, but they’re both probably fine picks

Just has some players I wouldn't normally go for but maybe that's good.

I love Moss. Kind of off on Ekeler, personally, but just went with the rankings.

So next few builds are going to focus on stacking teams that I think have easier matchups in weeks 16 and 17. This one is all about ARI and JAX.

QB - Murray, Trevor

RB - Rhamondre, Pollard, Allgeier, Pierce, Shipley, Laube

WR - Reek, Olave, Kirk, Ridley, Meyers, Gabe, M. Wilson, D. Robinson, Tez

TE - McBride, Fant, Sanders

by newguyhere P

I love Moss.

Still think he's the 1A?

All of the buzz the past week or so has been about Chase Brown. I've been capitulating and currently taking Brown over Moss. I was at 12% each before the recent Brown buzz. Currently at 11% Moss and 13% Brown.
