2024 Fantasy Football Thread

Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of January. Through 95 drafts, my exposures are below. The player order is based on current ADP. Some of these ADPs have been quite fluid over the last 3 months, with FAs and rookies moving the most. Most of my exposures are structurally driven, rather than player take driven. Especially at this point in the game, pre-draft.

But there are some players I simply couldn't avoid going heavy on, like McBride and Andrews in the 5th round. I'm actually quite heavy all of the top TEs, minus LaPorta and Kincaid. I also tried to make sure I had at least 1 TE by the end of round 8, with Ferguson being the last of the group.

Also took approaches like attacking Nabers and Odunze harder than MHJ, at their relative prices.

What do we like and not like?

Rookie season is also upon us. Redraft is still 3.5 months away from heating up, but there will be rookie drafts, dynasty startups, and best ball drafts leading up until then.

Good luck to all, and may injuries and variance be kind.

JJ is going to be my highest drafted first round player lol. Only 11%, but I’m simply not taking ARSB, Breece or Bijan over him.

I’m still pretty flat, and wish I could get more Breece and Bijan, but I don’t ever take them over the receivers. I miss early in draft season when they would fall to the late first. I’ve seen at least 1, sometimes both, go in the top 5 more often than not lately.

Is there any scenario where you take him over ARSB? is it because of the upside of Jeffrey

Re Mack Hollins

I don’t even like taking 31yr old WRs that were good, but not elite. There’s no amount of opportunity availability that could get me to draft a 31 yr old wr that’s never even been good

What about Claypool? 😆

Griddy still coping.

Na, been taking JJ over ARSB all summer since that’s been the ADP on UD. ARSB recently flipped after the McCarthy injury, but I’ve still been taking JJ. Betting on JJ’s upside as the best WR in the league who will likely have a 30%+ target share.

There’s a world where ARSB improves even more. There’s also a world where his target share decreases a little bit at the expense of improvement from LaPorta, Gibbs, and Jamo. The Lions defense should also be improved.

There's also a world where JJ's QB play is putrid and frustration sets in. Davante Adams is arguably the best WR in the league and he is currently going in the third because of potential putrid QB play. I do trust the Minnesota coaching staff way more. I'll still take a little JJ because I could be wrong and Darnold might just be good enough.

That’s certainly not the only reason Adams is going in the late second/third. He’s also coming off of an up down fantasy scoring season and is going into his age 32 season. He also has added target competition with a generational prospect.

JJ has been phenomenal from the moment he stepped on the football field as a rookie.

I don’t deny there is downside. If I didn’t think there was downside, I’d have gone Davis Mattak with way more than 11%.

But I think JJ’s upside is higher than ARSB. I still take CMC, CD, Reek, and Chase ahead of JJ.

And as you said, there are stark coaching staff differences. Pierce has continued to say he wants to establish the run. KOC’s scheme has one of the highest pass rates in the league.

My personal rankings for Round 1

Lamb
Chase
Bijan
Hill
CMC
ARSB
Breece
JJ
AJB
Puka
Wilson
MHJ

He's a poor man's Zay Jones. Useful in a 16 man 3 flex redraft league or something.

Puppy pick 12.

I reached on Love because Stroud and Kyler were gone. I hate picking from the 12 because it's difficult to get your QB. I figured I could back stack Love. I didn't do a great job of it.

Is this team dead? This is my only 4 TE team I've drafted. I waited way too long to get a TE. I wanted to get at least one upside guy with my two boring starters so I drafted Sinnott. I pushed Luke Musgrave because I figured worst case scenario I could get Kraft. I didn't get Musgrave. I took Kraft both for upside and to give Love a stacking partner. I figured I had 6 strong WR's so I didn't necessarily need any late dart throws.

A new thing I've been doing at pick 12 is going Harrison/Kupp. This seems to be unique and nice leverage on the Harrison/Puka teams. Pulling up Kupp in a flat tier feels fine to me. I wouldn't do this in BBM or The Millie.

I took Nailor in round 18 with the hopes he can over take Jefferson by the end of the year.

QB) Love, Caleb

RB) Mostert, Javonte, Ekeler, Charbonnet, Herbert

WR) Harrison, Kupp, Dell, Flowers, Allen, Odunze, Nailor

TE) Fant, Henry, Sinnott, Kraft

I don't mean to be negative but I don't think that's a winning team. My take is your RB roster is not good and that' s even if Williams breaks out maybe. You'd need a walker injury for Charbs to work out imo.

Any reason why you skipped out on Jonathan Taylor/Gibbs/Saquon?

You could have started with a Harrison + Saquon/Gibbs/Taylor combo perhaps? or if zero RB even Harrison/Drake London? Or grab Puka and Kupp and then nab Stafford later on for the stack?

Just spit balling here.

I disagree I think the team is completely fine.

I don’t do the Kupp 1-2 turn thing but I get it. Te is rough so I get why you went 4

I went with 6 straight WR's to start so that's why my RB room isn't great. Most of my 4th and 5th receivers are gonna need some luck to work out. If Mostert scores 21 TD's again I'll be just fine.

I do different things at pick 12. I often do include Gibbs and Taylor but never Barkley. London is a fade for me early in the second. Puka was gone at 11 but I like the Puka/Kupp idea.

Thanks for the feedback.

.

As a Phins fan, I'd be all for that happening again, but I would definitely take the under.

I’m slightly under on Mostert at 7%. It doesn’t feel great.

But I have 13% each of Achane and Wright.

Sounds like the nfl is starting to suspend guys so we may hear about Addison and Rice soon .

I have 5% Mostert, 11% Achane, and 17% Wright.

Mostert feels like a major regression candidate this year.

Leave it to me to give myself 14 seconds to make a decision in a slow draft. I just opened my team and with was counting down from 14. I forgot we only have 4 hours now.

The 4 hour time clock is a crunch lol.

I like DK’s more. Normal clock until Monday 9/2, but then it’s pandemonium down to 1 minute clocks. I hope my drafts are done by then.

And hope my UD drafts are done before next Thursday where they go down to 1 hour. I tried my best to time it out but definitely pushed it on the last chunk.

The puppy is about 95% filled. There is a lot of strange stuff going on in these contests. A guy in the 12th went all Chiefs in his first 5 picks.

I almost did my first extreme fragile but I thought Tank was too good of a pick in the 18th. I was planning to take a 9th WR.

QB) AR, Purdy

RB) Bijan, Henry, Jacobs, Warren, Tank

WR) Deebo, DJ, Ladd, Addison, Mitchell, Downs, Pearsall, Losivas

TE) Muth, Fant, Dulcich.

I want to get in 5 more but probably won’t be able to do it for another few hours. Hope I can knock them out.

I like that team. If a few those WRs hit, you should be in good shape.

Getting Bijan, Henry, Jacobs, Deebo, and DJ is impressive (even though I'm super low on Henry).

I'm not sure that'd even be possible on DK.

I believe both of those cases are a long ways from being resolved.

Zay was arrested last November on domestic abuse, and charges were never filed. The NFL performed their own investigation.

I wonder if Zay will appeal.

Players can still play under appeal, so even if Addison and Rice receive a suspension, there is a possibility they appeal and that timeline pushes it to next season.

Henry and Jacobs are about 8 picks cheaper on UD.

But looks like Mong still had a nice fall of Henry to the mid fourth. And Jacobs a few picks to the mid 5th.

Yeah at this point I'm going to keep drafting Rice where I can.

Pretty sure it's impossible to draft enough of him now that I would be dead should be he suspended when the season starts.

That's correct. They kept falling so I took them. There are some amazing values right now in the Puppies. I just got Etienne in the early 5th.
