Now can we go back in topic? You guys are angry that republicans seize any opportunity to make your guys appear extremists (because they are) on trans issues, because you know it doesn't play well in national elections.

Solution would be not to be extremist too much on trans issues, walk them back a little, at least those who poll a lot against you (like biological men participation in women competitive sports), you flip flopped toward the center on much bigger issues like immigration...

Abortion extremists (and a few key very stupid candidate choices for the Senate) penalized republicans in 2022, which doesn't mean trans issues were ever a losing topic for republicans at all, or that they are today.

Actually abortion extremists are the equivalent of trans issue extremists in how they damage their own party chances of winning elections in many places.

Difference is Trump belatedly understood that, Harris didn't (yet?).

She is smart enough and hungry for power enough though that if polls keep staying where they are (or get worse for her) I do actually expect her campaign to pivot on the most controversial trans issues, those where republican positions poll 60+ nationwide.

But I mean feel free to shout about how disagreeing with the notion that a 9y old can be trans, or being against biological men competing in women sports, is "transphobic" and costs elections, worse that can happen is that republicans win a trifecta and we are all ****ed

I think dems should change their stances on certain trans issues because they're wrong on some things, not because I think there is some magical effect trans issues will have on the election. Not even the Republicans think it's that important, given how little attention they gave to it in their platform and are giving it during the campaign. It's mostly a strong issue on the state level rather than the national level.

I think it's clear at this point roe reversal costed republicans politically and it's a great lesson about how insane politics can be, you gain more by identifying a problem and never resolving it that by actually resolving it.

Have you seen the theory that Trump was talking so much about Hannibal Lecter because he thought that immigrants seeking asylum meant that they were insane? The theory is that he doesn't know what asylum means and since he hears about asylums so much he started talking about Hannibal Lecter.
