for everyone worried about Dictator Trump, Kamala is coming over the top rope to limit free speech on what she defines as 'hate and misinformation'.

Damn, gonna be sad to see you not being allowed to post here any more.

Just more of "hurr durr both sides same" stuff. I find the "both sides same" people to generally be the least interesting on this forum. Always some variation of "neither are Bernie, so egro both are the same".

It's such a vacuous argument too. They find all the things where they are actually the same, i.e. all the positions on which most reasonable people agree, and then some magic happens and then that means they are the same in every resp

there's a lot that victor says which i disagree with, but a lot of his stuff in regards to "both sides bad" is correct, so much that people no longer address it in good faith and just respond by mocking with BotH SiDEs BAd

Both sides also agree that the stock market should exist, that private people should be allowed to own capital and that raping children is bad and criminal. They have so much in common!

Purely by accident. Sure, if you keep banging the "both sides same" drum about the things they have in common, there will be some good things there and some bad things there (although which is which is obviously in the eye of the beholder). That doesn't make them the same, and it doesn't make his position any less vapid.

Also, addressing Victor in good faith is certainly a novel suggestion. I am fascinated by your ideas and would like to subscribe to your publication.

well both sides got a weird way of showing that considering the things we hear about Israeli jails, Iraq/Afghan US run jails, and Epstein Island.

Trump's tariffs are a $1,600 tax hike

Trump's proposed tariffs and economic policies
disproportionately harm the middle class, particularly in red states.

The same people that believe in Trump's tariffs, also thought Mexico was going to pay for a wall.

agreed but this is something that i've long felt

my senior thesis in college was that george w bush, when analyzed strictly based on policies, was a traditional democrat and more to the left than his own predecessor in clinton

and the paper then proceeded to speculate over whether this marked a sea change in party policies going forward or if we'd see the trend continue where culture war issues like abortion would continue to be the sole defining aspect of each party

that was written in 2005

i also wrote another paper that same year that analyzed the exponential increases in FIRE political donations, tying that to the repeal of Glass-Steagall where i posit it's basically legalzied bribery to cut that regulation, and that perhaps we would soon repeat the same mistakes that led to Glass-Steagall becoming law in the first place

i was very clearly ahead of my time 😀

What is this blue maga thing? Is it just a way for maga to feel better about being maga?

I remember hearing it back when I was on Twitter to refer to people criticizing the Trump admin in 2017, 2018 etc. from non maga people who also believed top Dems were killing kids to inject adrenochrome.

Blue Maga is a leftist thing, where they are accusing people of reflexively supporting the Dem party establishment and having no principles. I think it came about with the Tara Reid accusations. The problem is that the Tara Reid accusations were indeed false, and it essentially became a way of silencing criticism of leftist criticism. “Blue maga hates metoo now” “blue maga is supporting genocide” “blue maga doesn’t care about kids in cages anymore” etc

rape denial itt

no, the rape of our senses has already been addressed

the real crime is the combination of those shorts and the high tuck

not even getting started on the fact that not even a single person there is wearing clothes which fit properly

try to keep up

A real piece of **** responds to Trump finally admitting he lost to Biden

White nationalist Nick Fuentes blasted Trump Sept. 4 for admitting that he lost the 2020 election, and said that he will work to get voters not to back Trump.

"So, why did we do Stop the Steal? Why did did anyone go to Jan. 6? Why did any one go to jail? ... It would have been good to know that before 1,600 people got charged," Fuentes said on his podcast, referring to the criminal charges for those who invaded and ransacked the Capitol. "It would’ve been good to know that before (I) had all my money frozen, put on a no-fly list, banned from everything, lost all my bank and payment processing.”

Wait he thought Trump actually won the election? I thought it was just fascist memeing.

i assume he was, but is now rustled that there have been consequences, such as:

had all my money frozen, put on a no-fly list, banned from everything, lost all my bank and payment processing

you hate to see it

Who is saying "blue maga" though? I agree w/ what you're saying, but why co-opt that shty acronym?

There's always been that wing of liberal. Anti-vax, overly anti-war to a fault, etc...

imagine if obama lost re-election and declared to high heavens that it was due to a rigged election and pelosi et el all banged the drums in unison to it

it's hard for you to imagine people thought it was real because it's hard for you to view trump as credible
but for a trump supporter, that's not a lying sack of shat saying that, it's the president, so it must be right

i think the goal is forcing them to consider their behavior is a mirror image

Trump is in desperate mode right now. He's trying anything to see if it sticks, even... gasp... telling the truth! noooooooo!

Ya, he's promising all sorts of giveaways now, including free IVF, elimination SS tax, etc... no plans on how to pay for them, but... let them eat cake!

Yup... clearly understand that, but I wouldn't go there. Especially not now. This is just another subtle way to divide people. We need unity right now.

Like I said above... these people have always existed in the party.

I should also state, it's falling prey to the long-running Republican strategy of false equivalency.

The extreme left is chaining themselves to trees to stop deforestation, trying to protect marginalized people to a fault, etc...

The extreme right is committing mass shootings, and trying to overthrow the government.

Let's not help them equate the two incorrectly.

i think the best chance for unity is to name and shame those people to force them to heel rather than silently ignore it because they are ostensibly on our side

fwiw, we've historically had way tenser relations than this throughout our history, wwii and then the ensuing cold war was an unusually galvanizing time in our nation's politics

we used to regularly insult each other (guys like adams were called president fatass at formal events), bear arms in congress (out of genuine self defense, one congressman almost beat to death a senator), and even kill each other in duels

we've also had a little thing called a civil war, which today is not logistically feasible due to the political balkanization of the country in that someone in california is as different from their own neighbor as they are from someone in texas

the difference is now everyone in the lunatic fringe has a voice due to the meritocracy of online publishing whereas before they were silenced to only those they could talk to directly

Ya, except shame doesn't work.

Of course we've had other past times in American history w/ extreme polarization... but this is also one of them. To the degree of civil war, not quite yet, but polling on that is moving in the wrong direction.

by FreakDaddy P

I should also state, it's falling prey to the long-running Republican strategy of false equivalency.

like this comment here shows how deeply out of touch you are if you think that's something only republicans have done and it's a trait of theirs when it's very clearly something both sides do in equal measures

your attention is focused on the malfeasance of the other side and not your own (and you probably are unable to see a lot of it from your own side because you view it as a compelling argument) so it only feels that way but it's not backed up by reality

like, at the risk of name calling, if i were to compile a list of "blue maga" people here, you would without a doubt be prominently on the list simply for posts like that above

earliest post on this forum* with Blue Maga or BlueMaga is from 3/28 2020. can you guess who made the post? (easy obv) can you guess who it was directed towards?

dunno how to search the old poli forum or the unchained.
