Trying to get re-elected is the same as trying to retain power without being re-elected (or, in the case of 2028, being eligible for re-election), makes perfect sense. You seem like a really genuine poster who is here just asking questions.

And it's not really all about Trump. If you replaced modern conservatives with the still not good but at least willing to follow the constitution 70s era conservatives Trump would have been removed from office for abuse of power; when he fired the director of the FBI for investigating someone that worked on his campaign, or secretly asked foreign leaders for sham investigations into a political opponent etc. The deterioration of republican "morals" and conservative "thinking" combined with Trump is the big danger.

1) don't agree that he tried to retain power without being elected. he questioned whether or not he was elected. there were some anomalies, but I agree his questioning was over the top.

2) he is trying to retain power as democratic nominee because there are obstacles in place to prevent him from removal. he is the only one with the power to step down, but he won't because he's a delusional old man that wants to retain power.

If you think Bide

He's still telling his idiot followers the election was rigged and they believe him.

I'm pro-choice. The abortion issue is very annoying to me. Both seem to prefer it as a forever election issue. Dems could've codified it under Clinton in 93 or Obama in 2009. They didn't. Why not?

At the time I thought they should have as well, but I now realize that it wouldn't have made a difference because the Supreme Court would have torn down the law.

Also, lol@this guy framing it as "questioning". I guess stating as a fact that the election was stolen and sending his dumbass supporters to hang his VP to prevent the democratic transfer of power is "just asking questions" now.

You may be right.

Do you think they didn't at the time because they wanted the election issue to remain open, or because they thought if they did codify it a future right leaning scotus would strike it down? I'm in the former camp.

Look what Biden did in his first term. Got the judicial arm to make up novel charges to go after his political opponent.

All politicians are terrible.

Ahhhh. I thought you were genuinely curious. My bad.

Citation? Who do you think he pressured to charge Trump with crimes?

His "babe in the woods" act was pretty transparent from his second post, IMO.

It's not theoretical, it's all facts. You choose to ignore it. What do you think makes it clear he's not ultra right wing authoritarian?

Fascism is defined in short as ultra right wing authoritarianism. Trump's policies are ultra right wing and he's authoritarian who adores authoritarians. It's very simple.

In his first term, he used the military and federal resources to squash dissent. That's authoritarian.

He banned one third of the entire w

i'm still waiting for you to name policies and laws he pushed forward that are fascist

I don't know. They could have worried that it would get more pro-life voters out to vote, while actually changing nothing at the time.

He just listed several. If you don't think those were fascist, you can make your case.

Yeah. You can always tell these just asking questions explain it to me bros. They have the internet, they can look up criticisms of trump and reject them or not. Nobody really cares. Pretending like you aren't even aware of them as a rhetorical tactic is just something dumb people do because they mistakenly think it's effective.

hes back baby. see? it was just a cold, 2 week jet lag, and a late night.

he didn't name a single law nor policy

by biggerboat P

I truly am curious. My view is Biden (and Warren) is 100% the wrong path forward. I'm trying to figure out what's so bad about Trump.

I don't have a problem with some questioning of various election anomalies. I agree he took it too far and continuing to state the election was rigged is dumb.

Staying in power in 2029....LOL. Again not worried about that and I don't foresee it happening.

More concerned about foreign wars and domestic growth. Biden is a war mongerer. I think Trump will bring a lot of troops home and stop uses resources for foreign engagements. Is that a bad thing?

Biden ended a 20-year war started by Republicans and brought a lot of troops home.

I fought in that war. My company lost 9 people and 1 afghan interpreter. Yesterday was the 17 year anniversary of losing 6 guys. Big sore spot for me. Glad we are finally out. Dumb we ever went in the first place. The exit could've been done much better. :(

As others have pointed out, your babe-in-the-woods shtick isn't convincing at all.

Seems people care greatly.

I think Trump and the MAGA movement more closely resemble Hitler and the Nazis than any fascists members of the axis. The MAGA movement is cult-like with symbolism, slogans, large expensive rallies. They're violent, inclusive toward racists, generally authoritarian, Christian nationalist, and willing to break any rules norms standards traditions or laws to win. Including a violent insurrection attempt similar to the Beer Hall Putsch.
