Netflix "Watch Instantly"

Netflix "Watch Instantly"

I just recently rejoined Netflix and was pleased to see they have added a "Watch Instantly" feature where you can stream a movie over the internet. The selection of movies/shows is subpar, but it's free baby! Well, free as in no extra charge. You can watch 1 hour for every dollar/month your subscription is and it doesn't affect your queued/shipped movies at all. Minuses are that you have to be running Windows and Internet Explorer, but the quality is great! I have a garbage laptop, but it looks the same as a DVD to me and it hasn't skipped/paused/hiccuped once so far.

I'm with you fellers. - TBN

Through 8 episodes of fargo s5 and it's surprisingly good given that the writers set themselves the task of writing a script where every woman is a badass and every man is either despicable or pathetic. It could have been far better if they'd been allowed to add some nuance but i guess that wasn't acceptable.

Have you not watched anything in the last three years? 😀

Not really tbh. I tend to turn off as soon as it becomes obvious that the writers want to use their show as a lecture delivery mechanism. Arcane was awesome because it respected it's female characters enough to let them make mistakes and have interesting character arcs. Semi-relatedly I watched Top Gun for the first time recently and it was so obviously a gay love story idk how people in the 80's didn't see the gay metaphor. Made it a really fun film.

I think I watched it before, but I am really enjoying season one of Loudermilk. Episode 6 was probably the funniest thing I have seen in 6 months.

I’m with you on this. I’m halfway through season 3 and I really like this show. Hope there’s someway they get to do another season.

Another 1980s Tom Cruise movie that was obviously a gay love story was Cocktail. I'm always amazed more people don't pick up on it.

Well there is the black cop, who is probably the only morally decent male character. But obviously the theme of the entire season is abuse of women, so I guess it makes sense that most of the men would be horrible.

Only 1 ep in, but so far looks like the new season of True Detective may be going the same route.

Women being heros is a main theme of every fargo season. I agree tho, it's better when it isn't so in my face as to not disrupt my delicate sensibilities.

Watched the first 2 episodes of Death and Other Details on Hulu, Murder mystery on a ship, not groundbreaking. lol

It's good enough to watch though.

Anyone watch Boy Swallows Universe on Netflix? 7 episode Aussie coming of age crime comedy? They had me at Aussie. It’s getting great viewer reviews so I’m going to watch.

Posted about this in another tv thread. Reviews of it seems quite mediocre. I'll probably wait until it's fully released.

Post what you think of it. I’ve liked pretty much all of the Aussie shows I’ve seen recently and would like to keep the streak alive!

First episode was very good. Not really what I was expecting. Kind of like The Goonies meets a drug dealing family in Australia. The child actor lead is incredible.

I’m in!! Thanks!!

I'm two episodes into Lessons in Chemistry...

😮

Is that good or bad??? Been curious about that show but haven’t heard much.

I enjoyed it. IMDB is 8.3-ish.

I agree with fozzy. There are definitely certain strong themes that may turn some people off.

With that said, I'm definitely looking to watch episode 3.

Cool. I didn’t know what the emote was but I get it now lol

You must have gotten through e2. I was shocked as well. Loved the show though.

That finale was one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen. I watched every episode, but I'm still just sitting here trying to figure out what this series was even about and whether it was good or bad.

I’m doing the same after 3 episodes. I told myself I’d give it 2 and as much as I don’t want to watch cringe anymore, there was just…. Something happening that kept grabbing my attention. It’s tough to get through certain scenes multiple times an episode, but I think the scene with them at the end of episode 3 was a freaking masterclass in quite a few things, and that alone committed me to the rest of the season.

I saw a random YT short, a clip of a movie I had never heard of, Detachment (2011)

I just watched it, very dark drama about Adrien Brody as a substitute teacher, many other stars also. It's good. It's on Peacock and Tubi.

I thought first episode was kinda meh. Watched most of second episode and just didn't care and stopped. Never grabbed me or made me want to watch more.
