[WPT Global] Official Thread

Hi 2+2ers,

Welcome to the official WPT Global thread!

WPT Global is the real-money online poker business of the World Poker Tour, and we’re about to celebrate our two-year anniversary, having launched in April 2022. After such a short time, we’re already the third-largest online poker room in the world (ranked by PokerScout.com, based on cash game traffic).

We’re joining TwoPlusTwo to share information with you, engage with the community, and answer any questions you might have.

WPT Global is special for a few reasons:

 • Our modern platform has been built from the beginning to leverage AI technology. We use this in two main ways. The first is to protect the games by detecting collusion, bot use, RTA use and other forms of cheating extremely quickly. We have the best Game Integrity tech I’ve experienced in my 19 years in the industry, and a team of around 50 people using it.

 • The second way we utilise AI technology is in managing our ecology. We ensure that games are sustainable and beatable by reserving seats in every game for casual players and limiting the number of seats per table that can be occupied by highly skilled professionals. I’ll go into more detail on this point later, in the below FAQ, but the net result is - we have the softest cash games you’ll find online, and typical win-rates for regs are 5-10x higher than elsewhere. (If you don't’ believe me, just try them and see for yourself).

 • We have had a large liquidity pool from the very beginning, especially in cash games. This is because we partnered with a couple of successful Asia-facing poker rooms to bootstrap their liquidity. Most poker startups face an enormous challenge in growing their liquidity from scratch - this solution allowed us to launch with cash games running 24/7 and it contributes to our soft player pool. Now, WPT Global is a large poker site in its own right and less dependent on the Asia liquidity, and we’re growing our games in US Dollars all the time.

 • There is enormous value on offer - our explicit aim is to pay back more to players via promotions and giveaways than any other site. Check out our current promotions here.

 • Global Spins is our unique twist on the Jackpot SNG concept, with a progressive jackpot and the lowest rake in the industry (5%).

 • As part of the World Poker Tour family, we’re the best place to qualify for WPT events around the world, like the WPT World Championship at the Wynn later this year.

Some of you might remember me and my colleague WPT Global Peter from our previous roles. Many years ago, I was one of the first site representatives ever to engage with the 2+2 community, as the first PokerStars representative in the ‘PokerStars Software Improvement Thread’. Later, Peter and I ran the ‘Official MPN - Microgaming Poker Network...’. You can expect a similar level of transparency and responsiveness here. While I don’t promise to respond to every single thing, no constructive question or criticism is off limits.

I look forward to engaging with you all!

All the best,

Alex Scott

FAQ

You can also read a more general FAQ on our website, here.

What countries is WPT Global available in?

Currently, we have a .com licence and have not entered any regulated markets (although we will start to do so later this year). We’re open to most markets that have yet to regulate, including Canada (except Ontario), Ireland, New Zealand and most of Latin America, Asia and Africa.

We don’t (yet) accept players from the US, UK, Australia, Russia, and most of Europe. If you’re from one of these countries and want to qualify for WPT events then Club WPT might work for you!

See our Terms and Conditions (section 2.5) for more detailed information.

How does the ecology management system work? Do you ban winners from playing at WPT Global?

Our ecology management system is specifically designed so that we can run sustainable games without having to penalise winners.

In cash games, our AI technology measures the skill level of every player and predicts their win rate. The model is highly accurate and continually updates so that it cannot be abused or ‘gamed’.

We reserve a number of seats at each cash game table for players that fall into one of our ‘casual player’ categories. In our most popular game (8-Handed NLHE with an ante and a straddle) we reserve six of the eight seats for casual players, which effectively means that highly-skilled pros can only occupy two seats.

Because there is plenty of liquidity, if you find yourself categorised as a pro, you can still always find a game to play at any stake, and you can guarantee yourself a seat in a great game if you start a table, since our ecology management system ensures that only one other pro can sit with you.

The system does not categorise players by their actual win rate, but by how skilled they are. If you have a great run of luck, you will not necessarily be categorised as a pro, and vice versa, you will not necessarily be categorised as a casual player if you run bad.

We find that once players get used to the system, they love it. Both pros and beginners have a better experience because we eliminate some of the common predatory behaviour that occurs elsewhere, and pros can achieve significantly higher win rates. I encourage you to give it a try!

What’s with the games in CNY currency?

Because we partnered with Asia-facing poker rooms to launch, some of our games are in Chinese Yuan (CNY) currency. At the time of writing, the exchange rate to the dollar is about 7.25 CNY to the USD. As we’ve become less dependent on the Asian liquidity we have introduced more USD games. Most cash games and all tournaments including Global Spins are now available in USD, and for those of you that want to play in the CNY games, there’s a handy currency converter in the lobby, and the ability to change the stacks to BB.

"If they take too long I'm sure we'd all love to see any reports. I've had my suspicions in cash when 4 or so new (less than 10k hands) players enter a table similar times and all have 30/13 stats or so, and all make tank-bluff catches on rivers with mixed or even bad bluff-catches (card sharing)? But I could just be paranoid lol."

Well they do this extremly obvious considering the same stats and entering the tables in a spawn of 5 minutes for months now, paying to see whole cards helps regulars understand this type of collusion, we can easily identify the blockers and the logic behind some unortodox plays, they don't do the obvious bluffs like when someone has the flush blocker but they donk or check raise in 3bet pots or 4bet pots when one of them has the top pair blocker or set blockers so it is not easy to prove the collusion, but 99% of the regs on the platform have a pfr higher than 14 at that stake so 4 players on the same table with pfr 12 or 13 is a big red flag . I think they are bots or have some sort of automatisation because those stats never change on all accounts and they take actions in less than 2 seconds. It is highly unusual for a player to have the same stats for under 10k hands. I had tens of accounts on different platforms and my stats always change with the games and gameplay.

I also saw them lose huge to some 5th player with fish stats 40 15 or so, maybe they just chip dump so they do not atract any red flags to the system and the 5th guy takes the winnings, considering they are breakevenish they do not crush the games, just make it very hard and requires more vigilence to play against , but this is just a supposition can't have any solid proof for that. The team has to investigate 30+ accounts that i sent to them and i will continue to do so as long as they are in the games.

That said, having all the information behind should be easy to prove the collusion, considering i can prove it just by playing for a month at the tables against them and paying to see their cards in weird spots. All the patterns that i described in the posts above and all the hands i have paid to see should be enough for a case.

Any dates for the next upcoming mtt series for online?

Any additions to live events that can use the $12.4k packages?

Unrelated - I tried to download the app for ios over the series as a back up (Thailand has power cuts in rainy season). Couldn't find it in the apple store. Is it yet to come to Thailand?

Cheers

I witnessed a regular player, leave the table and come back moments later in a different and more advantageous seat.

I've seen them do this many times, they are repeat offenders.

I think it's not only predatory but rude.

Is there some way I can report this player for such behaviour?

So they get a warning or something for example, maybe the culprit doesnt realise how bad this can be for the games, or maybe they truly believe that they are the only sentient being at the table...

ghindos, you are quite convincing 😀

Hi,

I have a problem with insurance, how do I report a hand for review?

The party started with 370$ and the pot became 824$ on the flop. I've selected the Break-even option insurance on the flop and on the turn. After winning the pot my balance at the table went to 0$. I've lost everything.

That should work like this?

I didn't think that was possible. If I break and come back, and the table still has seats, it gives me my old seat 100% of the time (over hundreds of samples)

There are definitely 'God' accounts of winning players who can bend the rules and see/join tables they shouldn't (must be special relationship with site, we will never hear anything official about this but it's frustratingly true). It's really obvious when you start a table, fish join, and the table disappears from in your lobby (including my tables), then the absolute giga-crusher with 100k+ hands somehow sits down despite 2+ regs and the rest fish.

But the seat thing I've never seen.

There is a report feature in hh, and you can email support. Expect a long wait but I've had good experiences reporting misdeeds

I could have sworn it was $50 global spin tickets for Silver qualifiers, but we only get $30? 2x $10, 2x$5. Also why not just one $50 lol, who's gonna play like $9k worth of mtts in a series then start playing $5 spins?

^ Ah wrong, pls ignore

Hi, what kinda rakeback are you guys giving?? what %? is it flat?

I have another question.

Now I can play 4 tables cash game, do you have plan to let us play more? like 5 or 6 tables at the same time.

I'd vote no. I think the most important thing for the players as has already been mentioned by many in this thread should be No.1 Game Security and No.2 Stability of Client.

There will be regular tournament series and the next one is not too far away, Peter will post the details soon.

Yes, you can report this to customercare@wptglobal.com and if we see repeated poor behaviour like this we will warn the player.

Right now we don’t offer a rakeback or loyalty system, however we have a program coming later this year.

Yes, the number will likely increase once we’ve improved the client performance.

If you contact customercare@wptglobal.com my team can help you to understand what happened. However the following explanation may help.

If you take out insurance, it’s only for the next card. If you insure on the flop, you pay twice (once for the turn, again for the river). It’s theoretically possible to pay for insurance, win the pot, but lose more on the insurance than you win by winning the pot (especially likely if there’s a split pot).

We’ll be making improvements to this feature in future.

I am sympathetic towards the philosophy the reps have posted in this thread, but major improvements are needed in order for this site to succeed.

1) Horrendous performance issues.
I thought GG was bad, but this takes the cake. I have 12 GB RAM, but I cannot run your site and Spotify at the same time. It's sort of mysterious given the quality of the graphics.

2) No option for automatic rebuys.
I am amazed that this is not in place already. It's been considered a basic functionality for 15 years now. Combine it with the fact that you have to post your blind after you get cleaned out (b/c you don't even have the option to wait), and you have the recipe for the kind of tilt that makes you uninstall the client.

3) Ratholing
It's an advantage to buy-in short in the big ante games, since you get to go all-in PF a lot and realize your equity with a much wider range of holdings. This of course attracts ratholing, which (as far as I can tell) you can do as much as you please.

4) No waitlists + messy lobbies
The former might be a design choice, I don't know, but it's a bit cumbersome to navigate to a table with an open seat. I'm sure this annoys both regs and recs.

Thanks for your feedback. We appreciate there is a lot we can do to improve the client and this is a top priority for us. The performance improvements you cite are coming in the next few weeks.

Just a small suggestion Alex, would it be possible to standardize all the 5/10/20 and 10/20/40 tables to just having a (5) and (10) ante respectively? It seems those are the only stakes where some games have smaller antes than the other games. Thanks

Hi, I'm a PLO regular and I have the following criticisms and questions to ask:
Criticisms
1) the rake in HU and 3way is monstrously high, it is impossible to try to start a table if there is not at least one occasional VIP player (i.e. super loser)
2) the fact of being able to enter and succeed with the minimum stack after a 2up is something that should absolutely be taken away even if the player who loves to do it the most is the recreational player.
3) How much is the rake on tables without rake? I think it is not correct to hide this information

Requests
1) Is it legal to use a converter to save your hands?

Considerations
Net of the current situation, I don't think the games are beatable in European times, given the new small number of occasional players, the high number of regulars (good or bad) and the high rake. I read from you Alex that the regulars have x5 winrates compared to other sites. I think the PLO situation is a little different.

This statement also derives from the fact that I cannot control my EV line, since my hands cannot be saved (at least I think) and although I think I run very badly, I cannot check if my sensation is correct (our mind always brings to remind us of the badbeats and not the lucky breaks)

Also agree with this. The rationale behind the lack of transparency is to get rid of datamining and HUDs; alright, fine. But I don't know my winrate, my ROI, or how much I am paying in rake per bb/100. The reg(s) claming they win x5 compared to other sites can't possibly know that. I wish we could at least see our own winnings like in GG Poker - but make sure it's also possible to see how much we are paying in rake.

by Ist Das Crazyboi P

The seat hopping issue happens at 2/4/8 and lower, 5/10/20+ there is some prevention it seems.

This is something I have thought about before and I think it's a good idea.

I really dont think this is a good idea to have wins/losses or anything like than that presented in the lobby.

I think we should be able to request a record or report from support maybe. For example, a .xlsx file that contains the common information one may request, such as hands played, hours played, account + or -, incomings/outgoings, rake paid, time banks purchased, etc.

Why make it that much of a bother? There's nothing to hide, if you lost your deposit then you know you lost it. I'm not saying they should make a big display in the lobby, just make the information reasonably easy to access.
