Ukraine-Russia War Take 2

Ukraine-Russia War Take 2

Here is what the preliminary take on the Ukraine thread disappearing is:

The site was hit with a massive spam attack where hundreds of spam threads were created. In the case where, for example, I see a single spam thread and delete it, that is called a soft delete, and mods can still see them but forum members cannot. Those deletion can be undone.

When a massive attack hits with hundreds of threads, an admin uses a different procedure where the hundreds of spam threads are merged and then hard deleted, where the threads are gone, and no note is left behind. As I have mentioned with my own experience of just soft deleting a large number of posts, sometimes a post or thread gets checked or merged accidentally and is deleted by mistake. Dealing with hundreds of spam threads takes a sledgehammer, not a scalpel.

It appears that our Ukraine thread may have gotten caught up in that recent net of spam threads. If so, it is likely gone for good. I cant say this for sure, and am awaiting comments from admins on this issue. Yes, this sucks. And hopefully there was some other software glitch that caused the disappearance, and we may recover it in the future.

But in the meantime, I have created this new Ukraine-Russia War thread to enable the conversation to continue. Obviously continuity with earlier discussions will be lost. There is no way around that. So as best as possible, let's pick up the conversation with recent events and go from there.

If you have any questions about this, please post them in the mod thread, not here. Let's keep this thread going with posts about the war, not the disappearance of the old thread.

Thanks.

I agree that his affiliation with Russia could be or is pertinent. not everyone that has worked or does work for RT is a pro-Putin/pro-Russia.

but I dont think he fled to Russia. last I heard he wasnt allowed to travel there and is still in the states. in fact he claims he was removed from the plane and had his passport seized.

My understanding was that he had fled to Russia. I was shocked to hear that he had come back to USA, and not at all surprised to hear he had his passport taken. Regardless the circumstances of how he came to be in Russia are pertinent and I believe his convictions played a role.

I did not say that everyone working for RT is pro-Putin, however with the current atmosphere in Russia anyone voicing an opinion through RT will only be voicing pro-Putin stances and is likely to have the opinions they voice chosen for them.

Political dissent is not allowed in Russia at this moment.

ok you want me to address the point made by a former chess playing anti-russia grifter with no political credentials, ok

When Trump & his supporters started repeating Russian propaganda in 2015-16, I made a simple point: Many parties can arrive independently at the same truth, but not at the same lie. As with MAGA, Musk, et al now, repeating the same Ukraine falsehoods is an op, not a coincidence.

so he's saying that anyone who agrees with anything coming out of russia is part of an op, not a coincidence. incredible thinker. this is soros conspiracy ****. guess i better remind putin that my cheque never arrived...

Show me where Ukraine said they did what the Breaking Points video claims.

Russian MOD BRAGGED about shooting down the missile. ATACMS are in high demand, they are not being used to intentionally target people at the beach.

Russia is telling people that the WAR ZONE is safe for people to vacation to, then as Russia is intercepting missiles (on the way to nearby military targets) over the WAR ZONE they told people was safe, they don't even sou

Here's the post. As I said, the Kasparov part is a minor addition and not really all that important to the main point, which is that it's ridiculous to blame Ukraine for any deaths in this situation and even more ridiculous to claim that they intentionally did it.

What Kasparov says is 100% correct though. The chances that Ritter and Breaking Points make the same logical errors, the same appeals, and arrive at the same false conclusion are astronomically slim. Twitter is full of dozens of similar threads with similar faulty logic, and all making the same appeals to the same target.

It's as much as coincidence as it was a coincidence that Trump happened to be saying the same Russia propaganda narrative that Putin said. Maybe it's not all orchestrated, but clearly at the very least everyone is taking their inspiration from the same source: the Kremlin.

The Kremlin on Monday directly blamed the United States for an attack on Crimea with U.S.-supplied ATACMS missiles that killed at least four people and injured 151, and Moscow formally warned the U.S. ambassador that retaliation would follow.

are you a (((soros))) guy too? lol

You're ad homineming still

no, i'm asking you a question

but if you want me to comment on the idea that all these different people are literally taking their marching orders directly from the kremlin, i already did; it's idiotic

tbh it sounds like even Russia allows that it was not an intentional strike on civilians and we dont know the actual target.

but they probably arent wrong about the part where Ukraine is shooting US made and programmed cluster munitions into what Russia considers its territory.

Naive but whatever.

OK feel free to address the main argument now:

i already did. i'm not wasting anymore more of my time debating you, bro

I missed it, where?

What is the poll the title is Referencing? Support is obviously dropping since the counteroffensive failed.

Ukraine has no theory of victory, making continuing the war not anywhere close to as popular. This is why I said a ceasefire and we do this again is extremely likely.

It's unfortunate, Ukraine did have a chance at actual peace but it seems increasingly unlikely now.

The EU has concluded a security co-operation agreement with Ukraine, and the Ukrainians claim that, having been a candidate member for a couple of years, they are now in accession talks with the EU.

What this actually amounts to, we will no doubt find out.

North Korea will send soldiers to help Russia to rebuild Donbask soon.

There's a lot of debate about what that actually means. Last I saw they announced they were sending an engineering team, which seems odd.

No good source but lots of talk of them being tunnel diggers

That is possible, but Russia should have plenty of people who can dig already.

Yeah i dont know but maybe russia is stretched for people. Or maybe it's a specialism that Russaa hasn't had much use for compared to the Korean dispute

It's getting increasingly more dangerous. Another possibly even more nutty leader getting in the mix

I don't believe a word coming from our defense dept. or Ukrainian govt about attacks on civilians. From the beginning, everything Ukraine accused Russia of doing they were the one's doing it. Projection is the main disinformation tool of leftists in all aspects of politics and geopolitics. Definitely not saying civilians haven't been killed by Russia. It's war. Civilians always get killed in war.

Ukrainian citizens hate Zelensky and know he's a fraud (dude is a fairy and literally LARPing as some sort of military man) and a coke addict, and is simply using his own people as cannon fodder (which includes bombing their own to blame on Russia) to line his pockets and maintain the power our gov't handed to him.
When you're the one destroying your own people's churches, locking up bishops, seizing monasteries, then installing a puppet church in it's place, it's pretty simple to see who the bad guys are.

when did the US defense dept and the Ukrainian Army (that employs the Neo-Nazi Azovs) become "leftist"?

Get off of far right Twitter.

Leftists, Marxists, Nazis, Fascists, Commies....it's all semantics. Secular/Atheist/Antichrist ethics vs Christian ethics is a better dichotomy.

no it was the Marxists and Commies that beat the Nazis. it was the liberals that got rich off them and then employed them in their armies.

Is Putin supposed to be the "Christian ethics" in this scenario?
