PW has lots of history major friends who wrote their doctoral theses on that investment banker and those two sculptors.
yea so why would you postulate that no history majors got mad about it in the 1920s?
did you just like make this up or is it rooted in history?
I am well aware that the statues were mostly put up in the 1900s as a way to oppress african americans and reinforce the racist status quo.
Just the the present day confederate flag was made up to suit modern day racists, the statues have the same effect.
What in the actual **** are you talking about?
Fascism is actually illegal in Italy (unlike being a pro confederacy is in the USA), this doesn't mean I wouldn't defend fascist architecture from being demolished by radical leftists.
And if I find actual fascists defending it as well so be it.
Fortunately here people even on the left aren't so absurd , but I know it could happen any time, and if it does I won't stop having a good take just because bad people share it with me.
Btw if it's so obvious confederate statues shouldn't be there anymore why are the statues there ?
i was saying there were no history majors at the rally in 2017 mad about taking down a statue that was put up during jim crow times. the date the statue was put up is relevant to the reason it was put up, and that reason was not historical.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and venture a guess that it's because some people organise massive rallies full of violent white supremacists to prevent them being taken down.
I misread your first sentence to read there were no history majors there in 1920 when they made the statue
my apologies. its the dyslexia
"there weren't a bunch of history majors that were very concerned about this one statute that was put up in 1924."
This would just be an unfortunate coincidence, I'm sure. Like running into AC Milan supporters at an AC Milan game while you are there supporting AC Milan or something.
Whats wrong with the people deciding they dont like something facist so they remove it?
I would think if the opposite side cared so much they would do the opposite thing and sit there to defend it.
I won't die on any hill I am not a samurai
Stop deflecting. Is it your position that the "jews will not replace us" crowd was just there to prevent leftists desecrating history?
we had this discussion in class and I think the logic I found bears repeating
When you have a statue in the middle of town, or anywhere public really, you are idolizing this object. and when you idolize someone who was a racist and or supported racist ideology or even fought for it, you are saying that this person is someone this community looks up to.
Why would a community want to tell people they look up to racists? And how would that make americans who have been victims of racism feel?
As an american, we should strive to make all americans are strong as possible, within their consent, so that we can be as strong of a nation as possible.
Racism makes Americans feel bad about themselves for no other reason than they were born into the most powerful and most ethnically diverse country in the history of THE WORLD
so to make an american feel bad just for being american, well thats unamerican and we cant have that bullshit here
additionally, these statues are protected under criminal statutes so people who **** them up will possibly see jail. That is the state saying that the idea of dead racists is more important than the ideas of alive humans, which is a racist idea in and of itself.
Americans do not support facism nor racism. We support equality because it means we can kick everyone elses ass the strong we are.
No? They were probably there for the reasons they gave as well, ie trying to become relevant in national politics and whatnot.
And?
The "Jews won't replace us" idea isn't dangerous for society.
They are wrong because it isn't the Jews, and they are wrong because they don't want to replace whites but western civilization, but that the left is attempting (and somewhat succeeding) at destroying the west from within (with the help of unlimited low quality immigration) is obviously uncontroversially true and is the biggest threat ever faced by our societies since we won Lepanto.
This is complete deflection. I don't agree with you about statues of Confederacy leaders (which are far, far different than buildings designed by fascist architects), but even if I did, I would think it absurd and overtly racist to attend a rally on the subject that was organized by people who are overtly white nationalist.
back to the theme of the election.
biden had a very good rally post debate, while trump went back to not understanding how batteries work. insisting that electric planes will fall out of the sky if it isn't sunny.
“All they know is electric. They want electric army tanks. They want electric planes. What happens if the sun isn’t shining while you’re up in the air?”
Show me your leader and I'll tell you about your people.
It could be "overtly racist" , problem is I don't consider racism a "very bad thing" at all, especially not in the current definition of it
stfu
The rhetoric I am describing as overtly racist has been considered overtly racist since long before either of us was born.
you wake up. you are a happy kid. you hang out with your family and your friends. everyone is all smiles
you go on a trip to a new country with some white people from your village. As soon as you step into the new country people start jeering at you. You arrive to a hotel and you are told you cant stay there. The people you are with ask how come? The hotel owner points at you and says they dont allow black people to stay there. everyone looks at you. You look down at your arm.... black? I am the color I am...
Do you think its ok for people to be made to feel that way? how do you feel about the statue post I made
Biden is almost passable when he reads from a paper or teleprompter
do you believe in the wisdom of the teachings of jesus christ
Lol no
I'm sure that Luciom votes in Italy, but I assume that he would prefer to live in an oligarchy where voting is greatly restricted or nonexistent (as long as the oligarchs were right-wing extremists, of course).
why not? lots of good stuff there. humility, graciousness, not assuming the worst in people, self sacrifice,
you dont like any of that?
