Sure, another legitimate reason is to prevent enemies of the US to spread propaganda among young Americans, as mentioned earlier.

You can think whatever you want about some of the motives, but I think it's fine to not want an app based on China on the phones of millions of Americans.
Also, they were given the option of selling the platform to a company based in the US. I suppose you could say that in that way they could prohibit the things supporting Palestine, but I have seen at least hundreds (possibly thousands) of those on Facebook and Instagram since last October, so if the Biden administration is trying to prevent that kind of thing from being on social media, they're certainly doing a very poor job of it.

Yeah no, no one seriously thinks China is putting the whammy on Gen-Z kids. If there was a real security concern they'd be shutting down TikTok or nationalizing it instead of forcing China to sell it to the US. This was a pretty obvious bit of crony capitalism.

They don’t have to be doing anything nefarious. The Chinese government can do anything it wants. Unalive every last person in the company to steal the data? Check. Or they can just force them to send all their data through an api pipeline straight into a database.

Their problem with the chinese conpanies is that it saturates the market which reduces US content which lowers revenue and less tax revenue.
It has nothing to do with Biden. The job of the media companies is to not go out of business, which is why news stations were willing to throw biden under the bus after his debate speech or bring trumps rhetoric to the forefront all day long. They show what keeps people watching.
China and Russia has certainly done a good job of seperating american citizens towards either "lefties or maga reps" who will only trust crazy ass conspiracies in order to bring down the country from the inside. no I def get it. tiktok made Israel and by extension the Biden admin look bad by showing the truth. that was the primary impetus but ultimately its about controlling info so even if there wasnt a Biden sponsored plausible genocide, they would have still gotten rid of it.
