You do have to convince the whole party. The only way to get on the ballot as a democrat is to win delagates at the convention.
That’s always been my thought when push comes to shove but I’m starting to doubt enough people care about the alternative to stop it
this is literally a page discussing the vendors that they use, encouraging diversity and inclusion.
ohhhh the horror. holy ****! they want to encourage *all* people to sell them products and services?
scary ****
Saying DEI is not a democrat initiative is one of the hottest takes in this thread.
why do you hate veteran owned businesses?
The previous administration was Bush/Chenyey. The fact that the Obama administration did not have the same perception with the president being an idiot and the VP in charge was not a given. I never said Biden did anything remarkable.
DEI is the new CRT which was the new caravans. it's just a bunch of made up boogeymen stuff republicans say to rile up the ignorant racists that make up their party. i see you are adequately riled, might want to take a step back and evaluate..
diversity is good. representation is good. no one unqualified or underqualified are taking our jobs!11!
Republicans seem pretty diverse too. I learnt recently that they give hand jobs in theatres and bowling alleys.
And all the affirmations action Republican presidential nominees (Trump bush McCain)
it's my understanding that vp is actually a pretty undesirable lol position in normal situations where the president isn't on death's door. you don't have much power, you aren't involved in governing, you're mostly just a figurehead of sorts to represent the administration and give speeches that nobody cares about and such. i think the hbo show "veep" was a surprisingly accurate depiction of what it's like
"did the president call?" "no."
in situations where the candidate is ~80 and could drop dead at any moment the calculus is a little different though
their greatest value is probably what they bring to the ticket in terms of getting elected in the first place, but once you're actually in office ..... lol
the successful lawsuits made by asians undoubtedly expose that as a lie - even more so that it required another minority to be shafted in order for the lawsuit to work
i'm all about diversity and inclusiveness but everything needs to be earned and not bestowed and it's just disgusting that the common response to anyone who argues that is that it stems from racism
the lawsuits were made by conservative white people. and it's still racism.
you can tell it's racism because the real thing holding back people from getting into those ivy league schools is all the underqualified white legacy students. but the same people that REALLY care about affirmative action don't seem to care about that.
if the lawsuits were racist why did they win?
mitch McConnell and donald trump
they moonlight as judges these days? how do they find the time?
+1
quite the mental gymnastics some institutions will do at times just to shoehorn in a narrative
Not sure that I agree. It is still probably the most viable stepping stone to being president.
can be yeah, but hasn't played out all that great lately
pence (no), biden (yes), cheney (no), gore ("lost"), quayle (no), bush sr (yes), mondale (no), rockefeller (no)
and really if you look at it, the only yeses just rode the coattails of extremely popular presidents (reagan and obama, and clinton nearly got there)
brandon is not an extremely popular president, to state the obvious
Nobody would give up a safe senate seat like Harris had to take the VP other than the fact that it’s by far the best job to one day be president. Even if your chances are o
“only” 25% that’s actually massive compared to any other position.
7 VPs in American history have won an open election for the presidency, 4 times in the last 100 years. 8 VPs in American history have succeeded to the presidency cuz of death or resignation
I’m sure kamala took the VP job because: 1. She had presidential aspirations to begin with and it’s better than being a senator from california and 2. She assumed biden would be 1 term and that’s it with him backing her as the Democratic candidate
Suffice to say this didn’t go how she probably expected
She was imagining what could be. Now she is burdened by what is.
agreed
but it's undeniable that Joe would have never been considered a viable candidate had he not been Obama's VP
likewise, Kamala would be drawing dead to ever see the whitehouse ever again if weren't VP right now
it's far from a sure thing, but it elevates the person to a status and regularity of media attention they otherwise wouldn't get
as kamala herself so eloquently puts it
yes, i already talked about why she probably made that decision
but we're talking about who might run with her, now, if she becomes the nominee. seems unlikely that we'll get 4 years of brandon, 8 years of harris, and then whoever she'd pick will be looking good for president in 2032. call me cynical but i don't think there's a 25% chance of dem party utopia rule on the horizon here. plus that person would probably have to win a contested primary. if i was safe as a governor or senator somewhere i'd probably just stay put, but a guy like that cooper dude from north carolina getting term-limited out might as well go for it.
