Blocker effects

If there are 2 hearts on the flop, what are the odds villain has 2 hearts in his hand, given (1) I have two hearts; and (2) I have no hearts.

We all know having hearts decreases the likelihood villain has hearts, but I'm curious what percent difference it makes.

Did I play middle set correctly?

100bb effective. UTG limps, CO limps, BTN (Hero) opens KKJ5$ds, both call.

I flop middle set and backdoor flush on AKQhh board.

I bet pot thinking there are lots of straight/ flush draws and lots of hands to get value from. CO calls.

Turn: Offsuit Q.

I have the effective nuts because CO is unlikely to have AA or QQ. With SPR about 1, I decide to check it back and hope CO improves on the river.

River: brings in straight and flush draws with Th.

How would you play against a maniac who sits 50bb deep and RFI's 100%?

Imagine you're playing at a full-ring live table against a maniac who sits 50bb deep, opens every hand, and never folds to a 3-bet? (This is based on a real person).

Advantages of 3-betting super wide: you're almost always a favorite, and it allows you to isolate. However, the biggest drawback is SPR is only about 2. You lose a major post-flop edge to get the money in when he's crushed.

For this reason, do you favor flatting wide and just 3-b

Questions about Variance and the Mental Game

1) In a soft lineup, particularly live, what are pros and cons of always running it once?

Pro: If Villain loses and is mentally weak, they will tilt and try to "get even."

However, con: If they win, will they fold too much and "lock it up"? While this is still -EV, it is more conservative.

This is particularly a concern when Villain is tilting and on a weak draw. Will they be more likely to fold if they know you only run it once, knowing they

MegaWhale69 - PLO Strategy Uber Thread

Hello,

My name is MegaWhale69. I have a solid background in NLHE, but am a fish in PLO. I am just starting my journey of learning basic PLO strategy and playing some microstakes on Ignition.

I'm planning to use this thread as a sort of blog to track my study, readings, and post some hand histories. I'm busy with school and work, but am hoping to post at least once a day.

The first book I'm reading is PLO: The Big Play Strategy by Jeff Hwang. M

What's more important: Correct frequencies or minimizing EV loss?

I've recently been experimenting with PLO GTO trainer. In many situations, there is a tiny difference in EV between call and raise. However, call might be used 95% of the time vs 5% for raise.

My question is: if a player consistently over-raises in this situation (frequencies are imbalanced), is that a major problem that can be exploited? Or, is it just a "small problem" because the EV loss is so small compared to bigger blunders?

The corolla

I'm curious if there are any discord communities, or other groups, that focus on heads up hand reviews for PLO and/or NLHE?

How much does swapping action reduce variance in a cash game?

Let's say you're in a 6-player cash game, and 3-players swap action such that they share their net-profits and losses equally. How much is each player's variance reduced?

Likewise, how would the math change if 2 players, or 5 players, swapped action at a 6-player table?

(At the most extreme example, it would be 5 pros swapping action against 1 whale. How much bigger stakes could they afford to play?)
