[WPT Global] Official Thread

Hi 2+2ers,

Welcome to the official WPT Global thread!

WPT Global is the real-money online poker business of the World Poker Tour, and we’re about to celebrate our two-year anniversary, having launched in April 2022. After such a short time, we’re already the third-largest online poker room in the world (ranked by PokerScout.com, based on cash game traffic).

We’re joining TwoPlusTwo to share information with you, engage with the community, and answer any questions you might have.

WPT Global is special for a few reasons:

 • Our modern platform has been built from the beginning to leverage AI technology. We use this in two main ways. The first is to protect the games by detecting collusion, bot use, RTA use and other forms of cheating extremely quickly. We have the best Game Integrity tech I’ve experienced in my 19 years in the industry, and a team of around 50 people using it.

 • The second way we utilise AI technology is in managing our ecology. We ensure that games are sustainable and beatable by reserving seats in every game for casual players and limiting the number of seats per table that can be occupied by highly skilled professionals. I’ll go into more detail on this point later, in the below FAQ, but the net result is - we have the softest cash games you’ll find online, and typical win-rates for regs are 5-10x higher than elsewhere. (If you don't’ believe me, just try them and see for yourself).

 • We have had a large liquidity pool from the very beginning, especially in cash games. This is because we partnered with a couple of successful Asia-facing poker rooms to bootstrap their liquidity. Most poker startups face an enormous challenge in growing their liquidity from scratch - this solution allowed us to launch with cash games running 24/7 and it contributes to our soft player pool. Now, WPT Global is a large poker site in its own right and less dependent on the Asia liquidity, and we’re growing our games in US Dollars all the time.

 • There is enormous value on offer - our explicit aim is to pay back more to players via promotions and giveaways than any other site. Check out our current promotions here.

 • Global Spins is our unique twist on the Jackpot SNG concept, with a progressive jackpot and the lowest rake in the industry (5%).

 • As part of the World Poker Tour family, we’re the best place to qualify for WPT events around the world, like the WPT World Championship at the Wynn later this year.

Some of you might remember me and my colleague WPT Global Peter from our previous roles. Many years ago, I was one of the first site representatives ever to engage with the 2+2 community, as the first PokerStars representative in the ‘PokerStars Software Improvement Thread’. Later, Peter and I ran the ‘Official MPN - Microgaming Poker Network...’. You can expect a similar level of transparency and responsiveness here. While I don’t promise to respond to every single thing, no constructive question or criticism is off limits.

I look forward to engaging with you all!

All the best,

Alex Scott

FAQ

You can also read a more general FAQ on our website, here.

What countries is WPT Global available in?

Currently, we have a .com licence and have not entered any regulated markets (although we will start to do so later this year). We’re open to most markets that have yet to regulate, including Canada (except Ontario), Ireland, New Zealand and most of Latin America, Asia and Africa.

We don’t (yet) accept players from the US, UK, Australia, Russia, and most of Europe. If you’re from one of these countries and want to qualify for WPT events then Club WPT might work for you!

See our Terms and Conditions (section 2.5) for more detailed information.

How does the ecology management system work? Do you ban winners from playing at WPT Global?

Our ecology management system is specifically designed so that we can run sustainable games without having to penalise winners.

In cash games, our AI technology measures the skill level of every player and predicts their win rate. The model is highly accurate and continually updates so that it cannot be abused or ‘gamed’.

We reserve a number of seats at each cash game table for players that fall into one of our ‘casual player’ categories. In our most popular game (8-Handed NLHE with an ante and a straddle) we reserve six of the eight seats for casual players, which effectively means that highly-skilled pros can only occupy two seats.

Because there is plenty of liquidity, if you find yourself categorised as a pro, you can still always find a game to play at any stake, and you can guarantee yourself a seat in a great game if you start a table, since our ecology management system ensures that only one other pro can sit with you.

The system does not categorise players by their actual win rate, but by how skilled they are. If you have a great run of luck, you will not necessarily be categorised as a pro, and vice versa, you will not necessarily be categorised as a casual player if you run bad.

We find that once players get used to the system, they love it. Both pros and beginners have a better experience because we eliminate some of the common predatory behaviour that occurs elsewhere, and pros can achieve significantly higher win rates. I encourage you to give it a try!

What’s with the games in CNY currency?

Because we partnered with Asia-facing poker rooms to launch, some of our games are in Chinese Yuan (CNY) currency. At the time of writing, the exchange rate to the dollar is about 7.25 CNY to the USD. As we’ve become less dependent on the Asian liquidity we have introduced more USD games. Most cash games and all tournaments including Global Spins are now available in USD, and for those of you that want to play in the CNY games, there’s a handy currency converter in the lobby, and the ability to change the stacks to BB.

Zero 2/4/8 when 5/10/20 running (or basicly at any time) sounds unreal.

Im forced to play stakes 4-6 times higher than im used to because AI think i have high ELO or whatever. There is no way for healthy progression on this site, to try and grind up the stakes, to learn the game, to grow and take some shots if you feel ready. Rather im almost forced to play higher on this site, to increase the variance of my bankroll a ludicrously amount . If i run bad my bankroll will get wrecked. If im just worse than my opponents on higher stakes i will probably get wrecked. This system is so bad on so many levles. I tried to start tables and increase the activity on the site waiting sitting for hours, waiting or playing heads up. I got about 50$ for starting tables (lol?) The rakeback is obviously ****. The rake is mad. The software is garbage, we are raking like crazy and nothing is improving. I think its time to cash out.

I mean, if we can somehow find a solution for this... something that will bring back agents, solve this table starters nonsense, bring back average regulars who are driving the traffic 24/7 and rakings thousands and thousands monthly...

There has been a problem with rakeback bonuses this week. It is impossible that being many times the person who starts the table in NL200 gets only 8$ rakeback this week. There must be some mistake.

I had a separate question about the rakeback on the outside, my agent told me that he will not get any more rackback by WPT decision but how do I know that this is true and the agent is not keeping the money?

Thanks for the answer.

Hi

I have a couple of doubts about the new reward system:

What happens if I start the table and after a few hands I sit out and there are already 3+ players, would I lose the rb for starting the table?

What happens if I start the table, leave and come back when there are 4+ players?

What happens when one of the people who started the table leaves, does no one else get their rb?

I also dont like the new changes WPT is making, and i think is very unfair to the agents and regulars that promoted games on the site.

And what about players having multple acounts on the chinese newtwok? They have and edge against the players that doesnt know they are the same person on multiple acounts, they should be verified and someway relate all the acounts to be 1 alias.

Anyway, the path wpt was walking was perfect, i dont know what they are thinking right now besides gettin more money to their pokets, its sad.

The only one answer for your all questions is just "NO". Even when I asked if there are 2 players already sat in different time but not player HU(meanting the table not running any hands), then I sit down can I get the rakeback? their answer is still not 100%, they answerd like "if they are wrong in the future, they will say "oh sorry, but I just said "most likely or it should be" ".

And below is the result of the "rakeback for 2 starters" idea, the most idea I ever seen.

This is the result, no one want to play if they don't get the rakeback because the HU's rake is too high and they don't want to help other but they get nothing lolll

Just let this site die. They deserve it.

Anyone else got the 1k reload bonus after a month of not playing on wpt?

I was away for a few days and my internet access was much worse than anticipated, if I missed anything important that I haven't responded to here please let me know.

Hi Alex, do you have any feedback on the above? Have there been any developments with regards to finding a solution for this? I still see on average about two of these burner accounts per table. Thanks.

I have no further information to give here. Our security team has investigated, and continues to investigate new reports, but so far does not believe that 'burner accounts' are a significant problem.

by eduargentina P

Is there an approximate date for a change to be made in the room so that our played hands can be downloaded?

No specific date, and internally this is a controversial idea. However I think it will be done eventually.

Legit robbery. “Good news RB is now 40% for table starting in 100/200/400+ but we are increasing rake from 4% to 5% in 50 100 200+” the hell is this? 50 100 200 is the highest stake game that runs daily and they chose to increase rake yet kept everything the same.

As far as I'm aware there was no rake increase and the rake has been 5% for quite some time.

Hi, why is the site taking almost 0.8% commision for withdrawals in USDT?

Shouldn't it be 1$?

Is there a crypto option that takes less commision then for withdrawals?

We don't take any commission or fees on withdrawals and if you see these in the cashier, they are fees / commission charged by either the payment provider or the crypto network itself (e.g. gas fees).

Was wondering, if I use card catcher for another site where it's allowed, can It have an impact on my wpt account?

If the software interacts in any way with WPTG, then yes it could impact your account, but generally it would be blocked from running by our systems. I suggest you check with the developer of the software.

by Destclout P

On Asian version platform, 1 account can only play one cash game at a time and they can create up to 3 accounts. So basically that player violates no rules.

Unfortunately this is indeed the case. Multi-tabling was only ever developed for WPT Global and does not exist on any of the Asian partners' platforms. I know this is an issue and we're lobbying hard for this to be changed now that we've proven the case for multi-tabling.

Concerning the rake increase Alex - that is not true.

It was 5% but capped at 200 for 50/100/200 and at 400 for 100/200/400 (all limit always 1BB or 1 straddle)

Now it increased to 300 and 500 - + preflop jackpot is being taken when there's no chance of winning a jackpot preflop.

Anyone else got the 1k reload bonus after a month of not playing on wpt?

Yes, I received such a letter as well after withdrawing all the money and not playing for an extended period. But in the current situation, this bonus is an easy skip for me.

Good morning, Alex,

I understand that the community is currently dissatisfied with the recent changes. However, I believe we need to allow a few months to truly evaluate whether these changes will yield positive results.

I have a question and a suggestion regarding the rake.

Question: How do you plan to allocate the rake that will no longer be distributed to the players?

Suggestion: I suggest reconsidering the distribution of funds to affiliate

Good morning, Alex,

Could you please take a look at the question below and provide your input? Also, I'd appreciate your thoughts on my suggestion.

Thank you!

huh, I don't re-call this. Always tought it was 1 straddle.

Why is the rake 1.5x higher at 50/100/200 vs other stakes when we already pay much more in term of $ then other limits?

Also this particular limit got more regs per table vs other stakes.

I am reading the promotion page to understand the vip rewards but i cant find what is the rakeback for mtts, is there not mtt rakeback? i can see only cash for people who are starting tables

Any RB for mtts are festival specific in the form of promotions. Twice there has been 100% rakeback for a festival. One they just didn't charge any rake at all, the other was in the form of a massive freeroll with all the rake collected during the festival. Many ppl won $10K+ in those. Looks like there won't be anything that amazing this coming festival, but they still got a bunch of cool things offered.

Any money saved (if any - it's not completely clear yet) is going to reallocated into promos, with the goal to mostly reward players who make positive contributions such as starting tables. The first phase was the Table Starter scheme, which we recently increased from 20% rakeback to 40% rakeback. There is more planned, and some of the budget might be used to incentivise affiliates differently, yes.

Honestly, I can't answer that because the decisions about rake for CNY tables are taken at the network level and we weren't involved in this particular decision. As we get larger, we're getting more influence into those network-level decisions, but sometimes things happen that we don't have control over.

Table starter rakeback applies to players who start new cash game tables, we don't have a similar system for MTTs, but there will be a lot of promos around MTTs - particularly for Fall Festival and the upcoming WPT World Championship, before the end of the year.

Oh come on. You've made it 40% for 1% of the pool.

As mentioned last week our Fall Festival has $8,500,000 GTD, with just over $3,000,000 of that being in popular Mystery Bounty tournaments. The festival itself kicks off this Sunday (8th September) however satellites & feeders are running right now (including in about 1 minute our first $220 BI to the $2,100 High Roller Bounty tournament, with 4 seats guaranteed).

Many promotions for most verticals are tied to the Fall Festival and more details (including the full schedule) can be found here

Sunday 8th September looks like this (and if you want the direct link to the full schedule please click here):

by WPT Global Peter P

Global Spins Xsell: Earn up to 12 different Fall Festival tickets (from $5.50 to $3,500) by grinding Global Spins. The top ticket can be earned by playing 1,000 $100 Global Spins. The data actually started being recorded for this since 25th August, so once the page goes live some players will see they have a "head start"

Any update on the spins promo?

Alex

Finally, at tables NLH with straddle, is rake paid preflop? If I did 3bet, 4bet or 5bet?

Tables HU or 3max is rake paid preflop?

by isplashcranberrys P

Any update on the spins promo?

We are waiting for the data to be posted to the site, so that players can follow their progress more easily. Manually checking, you have (presuming its yourself) earned a $220 ticket so far (will be paid when I get the first lot of data)
