Welcome to the official WPT Global thread!
WPT Global is the real-money online poker business of the World Poker Tour, and we’re about to celebrate our two-year anniversary, having launched in April 2022. After such a short time, we’re already the third-largest online poker room in the world (ranked by PokerScout.com, based on cash game traffic).
We’re joining TwoPlusTwo to share information with you, engage with the community, and answer any questions you might have.
WPT Global is special for a few reasons:
- Our modern platform has been built from the beginning to leverage AI technology. We use this in two main ways. The first is to protect the games by detecting collusion, bot use, RTA use and other forms of cheating extremely quickly. We have the best Game Integrity tech I’ve experienced in my 19 years in the industry, and a team of around 50 people using it.
- The second way we utilise AI technology is in managing our ecology. We ensure that games are sustainable and beatable by reserving seats in every game for casual players and limiting the number of seats per table that can be occupied by highly skilled professionals. I’ll go into more detail on this point later, in the below FAQ, but the net result is - we have the softest cash games you’ll find online, and typical win-rates for regs are 5-10x higher than elsewhere. (If you don't’ believe me, just try them and see for yourself).
- We have had a large liquidity pool from the very beginning, especially in cash games. This is because we partnered with a couple of successful Asia-facing poker rooms to bootstrap their liquidity. Most poker startups face an enormous challenge in growing their liquidity from scratch - this solution allowed us to launch with cash games running 24/7 and it contributes to our soft player pool. Now, WPT Global is a large poker site in its own right and less dependent on the Asia liquidity, and we’re growing our games in US Dollars all the time.
- There is enormous value on offer - our explicit aim is to pay back more to players via promotions and giveaways than any other site. Check out our current promotions here.
- Global Spins is our unique twist on the Jackpot SNG concept, with a progressive jackpot and the lowest rake in the industry (5%).
- As part of the World Poker Tour family, we’re the best place to qualify for WPT events around the world, like the WPT World Championship at the Wynn later this year.
Some of you might remember me and my colleague WPT Global Peter from our previous roles. Many years ago, I was one of the first site representatives ever to engage with the 2+2 community, as the first PokerStars representative in the ‘PokerStars Software Improvement Thread’. Later, Peter and I ran the ‘Official MPN - Microgaming Poker Network...’. You can expect a similar level of transparency and responsiveness here. While I don’t promise to respond to every single thing, no constructive question or criticism is off limits.

What countries is WPT Global available in?
Currently, we have a .com licence and have not entered any regulated markets (although we will start to do so later this year). We’re open to most markets that have yet to regulate, including Canada (except Ontario), Ireland, New Zealand and most of Latin America, Asia and Africa.
We don’t (yet) accept players from the US, UK, Australia, Russia, and most of Europe. If you’re from one of these countries and want to qualify for WPT events then Club WPT might work for you!

How does the ecology management system work? Do you ban winners from playing at WPT Global?
Our ecology management system is specifically designed so that we can run sustainable games without having to penalise winners.
In cash games, our AI technology measures the skill level of every player and predicts their win rate. The model is highly accurate and continually updates so that it cannot be abused or ‘gamed’.
We reserve a number of seats at each cash game table for players that fall into one of our ‘casual player’ categories. In our most popular game (8-Handed NLHE with an ante and a straddle) we reserve six of the eight seats for casual players, which effectively means that highly-skilled pros can only occupy two seats.
Because there is plenty of liquidity, if you find yourself categorised as a pro, you can still always find a game to play at any stake, and you can guarantee yourself a seat in a great game if you start a table, since our ecology management system ensures that only one other pro can sit with you.
The system does not categorise players by their actual win rate, but by how skilled they are. If you have a great run of luck, you will not necessarily be categorised as a pro, and vice versa, you will not necessarily be categorised as a casual player if you run bad.
We find that once players get used to the system, they love it. Both pros and beginners have a better experience because we eliminate some of the common predatory behaviour that occurs elsewhere, and pros can achieve significantly higher win rates. I encourage you to give it a try!
What’s with the games in CNY currency?
Because we partnered with Asia-facing poker rooms to launch, some of our games are in Chinese Yuan (CNY) currency. At the time of writing, the exchange rate to the dollar is about 7.25 CNY to the USD. As we’ve become less dependent on the Asian liquidity we have introduced more USD games. Most cash games and all tournaments including Global Spins are now available in USD, and for those of you that want to play in the CNY games, there’s a handy currency converter in the lobby, and the ability to change the stacks to BB.

Alex you do realize that you have been saying for months that XYZ will be done and a big update is coming and there's absolutely nothing done ever?
Difficult to take you guys seriously with anything.
The mobile app is horrible, the pc app is full of issues. No way to download hands, email support is incompetent, there's no promotions.

Hi Alex. On what approximate date and what improvements will there be in the software?
I'm expecting the upgrade in the next 2-3 weeks, it is an upgrade to a foundational part of our software that should deliver significant performance and reliability improvements (there's a known issue right now, where the client uses more CPU and memory resources than expected).

This table starter promotion rakeback ain't working at all, lobby is now a ghost town of 1/x tables
Hi, a few questions about affiliates with WPT. Since your recent change has seen a few affiliates not being able to offer anything anymore.
Currently playing through an affiliate locks my account for normal dep/withdrawal and im only able to move funds in and out through transfers to my affiliate. If my affiliate were to ghost me, is there any way I can get help from WPT support to go back to the normal dep/with setting and be able to move my balance myself? (thus terminating the affiliate/any deals involved with them?).
Also if it comes to this, is there any side effects. For exampel me having to terminate my current account and create a new etc. I hope I at least will be able to access my balance and have it withdrawn to my bank.
Im new to this so just looking for reassurance before I keep playing. I really do enjoy WPT sofar. Thanks in advance.

there is 7.5$ pre flop
I posted 2.5 including ante
OR made it 9 I 3bet and he folded
I should have won 14 but JP is getting there without the 20 bb
Hey guys, just a headsup on the burner account situation. I got a mail back from security and they were able to catch a bunch of them and confiscate their funds. They also sent me $500 which was very generous.
I would encourage other players to send in reports on this issue. I just take screenshots of accounts I suspect and send them into security. I know it's tedious but we would all be better off if these accounts were just eradicated. It has to be a bunch of hassle opening new accounts every day so we just need to make it not worth that hassle. The last week or so I am seeing less of them so it seems to be working.

It's taken no matter what when pot is 20bb total even if they fold.
Let's say one limp, you iso raise at 10bb, it's already 20.5bb total in the pot, he folds and voila, 1bb is taken away. So pretty much 99% of pots get the 1bb jackpot taken
I wouldn't think that is a reliable metric as it would be easy for them to alter their buyins. What they have in common is the following:
1) New accounts with generally fewer than 1k hands played.
2) Playing one table.
3) They have the stats of a standard aggressive reg. I heard that some of them will play lower stakes to distort this but most of them don't bother.
4) Another thing I noted is that they sometimes leave the table after getting stacked. I'd expect this is because they don't have the funds in their account and want to keep risk as low as possible.
These guys will have a very significant impact on the win rates of pros and will amplify the loss rates of recs. I don't know how prevalent the problem is outside of 2k and 4k.

Yes, we can support you. You can also request to be untagged from an affiliate.

Jimbo - I really want to thank you for this because a lot has changed since my last post on the subject. For complete transparency, my last post said 'Our security team has investigated, and continues to investigate new reports, but so far does not believe that 'burner accounts' are a significant problem.'
We got it wrong and thanks to Jimbo's persistence and the other posts in this thread we were able to uncover some users that we believe were creating new accounts to try to avoid the FairGame system (all accounts from Asia).
Now that we've made this progress thanks to your help, our focus is on getting better at stopping it from happening in the first place and I'm confident that we'll be able to minimise this problem fairly quickly. In the meantime - please continue to send any suspicions you have to our team at [email]customercare@wptglobal.com[/email]. Thanks
This is correct. Again in the spirit of transparency, some full disclosure. This feature is, unfortunately, not documented and we've been figuring it out by looking at the code, asking people who should know, and testing it ourselves. I think I asked about this and I have never got an answer...This half of BB JP is the thing since I play on WPTG (~ 1 year)
Honestly - I can't say for sure whether this is true or not. I will ask for it to be tested. To be honest I'm kind of embarrassed about this, but I'm working with what I have.

Please see my comment above. Of course, when people get caught trying this (which thanks to the help of posters in this thread, we will now do much more often), we will seize their funds. These consequences combined with better detection are likely to reduce this problem pretty quickly.

Fairly new to WPT_Global and ran into an issue I think is new for me. Not sure if I've played in the past with other sites open so I can't confirm this as recent.
When I have DriveHud2 open for games on WPN/Pokerstars where it is allowed. I can open WPT and pass the fairplay check. When I go to register or sit at a table I am then hit with a warning about using a HUD (paraphrased) .
I am in no way trying to use the HUD for WPT games, and in the past have been able to have my HUD launched for sites that allow it and play at the same time on sites that don't allow it. I am trying to figure out if this is standard - No HUD allowed for other sites while playing WPT.
If so Ideally this would change.

This is the case for 100%. I remember I asked my affiliate how those JP works, but he couldn't answer ~ 1 year ago
The thing is, WPTG doesn't own these games, they are from PKA and in turn WPTG offers liquidity.
It's my guess that they also probably agreed to prevent good regs from having constant access to the games as part of the deal.
Since the games ultimately belong to PKA I used to assume it was PKA's doing that made the "Fair" game" "AI" conveniently not work for a lot of us regs.

Alex i can see your blog very funny today !!! I think is better to say, guys our idea wasnt the best and we are going back to normal rakeback and no "ai system". Recognize you made a mistake give you a better chance to succeed.
