How will a Trump presidency affect this case and possible future cases like it?

Also, you didn't respond to my question as to how a Trump presidency affects the other legislation you cited.

I'm not sure on the first question. He has said he'll commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht. I'm guessing he's listening to and maybe empowering various crypto people. He's at least getting the talking points out. Will he follow through with them, unknown.

But Biden is outwardly hostile. He just vetoed SAB-121 which lets bank custody crypto assets. It was passed fairly heavily by both parties in house/senate but Biden vetoed it for some reason. Warren runs the economic arm and she hates it because she has less control of it. Chokepoint 2.0 is shutting down banks related to crypto or forcing banks to offboard all crypto customers.

The SEC is going after Coinbase, Kraken, Robinhood, Uniswap, Consensys, meanwhile it lets the bad actors slide. Gensler had numerous meetings with SBF yet failed to find anything awry. They all have egg on their face after that massive fiasco.

There are a number of congressmen and representatives on both sides of the aisle that support it. But the upper echelons and the olds hate it. Trump has made positive statements the past 6 weeks or so, and like the former question, my guess is he will empower the right people to get productive legislation passed. First and foremost he'll appoint a proper chair of the SEC. Hester Pierce is a boss. Gensler is a complete cuck, and crook too. Should be charged along with Hillary Clinton on the same grounds Trump was for the Stormy Daniels issue, for the Steele Dossier.

Ok, thanks for the info.

Of all that, the only thing I know a bit about is Ross Ulbricht, and while I disagree with the length of his sentence, he is in prison for dealing drugs, not for anything to do with crypto currency per se. There is also some pretty compelling evidence that he attempted to hire others to commit murder, although I don't think he was charged with it.

GOP is supportive of the open source software community. I mean that's bizzaro ****. What planet is you from?

GOP is almost certainly going to be in favor of deregulating shady crypto assets, so there is that.

So you're speculating based on feels that GOP will be good for tech? DT appointed Ajit Pai to head the FCC and ended net neutrality. His administration and GOP in general have always been openly hostile to tech and software workers. There's no real world justification to say GOP is supportive of tech or the software community in any way. Ever.

"Biden started the Russian invasion of Ukraine" is a fun take.

his admin sure didnt do anything to stop it. in fact, they did everything to keep it going in April of 21.

and they have signed off on all of the bloodshed in Gaza. something that you yourself have been critical of. but not of Biden's role? quite confusing.

and they will have blood on their hands if the IDF starts slaughtering Lebanese and Iranian.

maybe Trump will do the same. but at this point it is a freeroll.

which regulations will they remove? which shady crypto assets are you referring to?

Dems are banning tiktok. so are the Repubs.

its almost like...well...say the line Bart...

TikTok is a Chinese intel operation. We should copy the code and then make our own version

Crypto-Bros think sensible regulation is "let us do whatever we want cause we're special".

It's reasonable in 2024 for states to be involved in control of information. This is a very nuanced topic, I'm sure both sides are being advised by military to disallow foreign nations from controlling too much media. With Citizen's United ... it really seems like the most well connected organizations will succeed.

hot take

Crypto is the end of anonymous transactions with cash

Why do people want that?

Your take is indistinguishable from the people that the Dems call fascist.

But I won't let your generalities slide even. The Dems want it banned bc it criticizes and exposes them.

And why do GOP want the same?

same reason

That's one position. But it seems more likely to me that it would be a really bad idea to allow foreign interests to control US media.

damn the Singaporean tiktok controls US media? didnt know that. vote blue no matter who.

I mean, the Dems promote and support the murder of foreign journalists so why am I even talking to a liberal right now. I should just lol and move on.

It's really hard to imagine any conservatives supporting the current GOP. They are implementing Christian theocracy. Any technologist who supports GOP hates themselves.

it hard to imagine a progressive or liberal supporting the Dems. they are doing literal (plausible) genocide and a war of extermination.

the reasons they do, is the same as the reason that conservatives support the Repubs. they are stupid, they are hypocrites, and they are essentially brainwashed by media and culture.

Does that mean liberals should support GOP who would genocide way harder? I don't really get the angle. It seems like you want to normalize GOP off the political spectrum policy positions. They agree on banning tiktok. Not much else. GOP literally want Christian theocracy. Dems promise stability which is super conservative.

if the Dems are doing all of the things they warn us that the GOP is going to do, then I fail to see why there is any reason to support the Dems. but thats just me and I am pretty opposed to (plausible) genocide and wars of extermination. I realize that puts me in the minority.

by rickroll P

i don't see any fascist laws nor policies in this post

Making the president immune from all criminal charges is a pretty Fascist policy, IMO.

IDK where you're from, but it doesn't sound like you're American. In US both parties support military 100%. Also, the GOP guy literally tried a coup and keeps pushing it. During the coup attempt people died. They intended to hang the vice president to prevent democracy from happening. There's levels.
