Politics and Society Moderation Discussion Only Fans Thread
Hello everyone. I've closed the previous mod thread, and opened this to capture all issues related to moderation policies and actions going forward. I'll kick it off by reposting my intro post from the other thread. Again, I'm happy to be here and look forward to hearing from you.

Hello everyone.
I'm very pleased to have the opportunity to serve as a moderator in Politics and Society. I asked for this position because I believe we are experiencing a polarization in our politics and society unseen since the 1960s. We may well be at a juncture from which we will either make great progress or suffer great setbacks in regards to our democratic foundations and civil rights over the next few years. So I believe it is important to maintain a forum for discussing these important topics. When the other mods had to step back a bit due to their real life time obligations, I asked to join the mod team to help keep the forum going.
I have not followed this forum in the past, though I have been reading through threads the last few days and made a few posts. This has allowed me to get a sense of the initial impression the forum likely makes on new readers who are deciding if our forum is a place they would like to visit regularly and participate in. While I see some familiar names from the live poker forum, many of you I have not had any interaction with to date. I have no preconceived notions of anyone's posting behavior and will essentially start from a clean slate.
I will shortly post more about my modding approach and give my initial impressions of the forum based on my observations over the last several days. I will be soliciting your input on things you like about the forum that you want to remain, and things you don't like that you would like me to change. Your candid input and feedback is very important to me. Especially, please don't hesitate to let me know if you think a policy or a proposal is a bad idea. I'd rather hear it before it goes into effect than after.
My overall modding principle is simple: Be Nice. Disagreement need not be disrespectful, and everyone must be treated with respect. Calling a poster derogatory names or hurling snarky insults never usefully advances a discussion. It just bogs things down and turns off many would be participants. And it's not nice. Don't do it.
My goal is to have a forum where people with a wide variety of opinions along the political spectrum enjoy expressing and debating their views in a spirited manner, free from insults, bigotry and denigrating comments. If you enjoy discussing these important and often polarizing issues in a passionate, yet respectful manner, I look forward to getting to know you and working with you to create a forum people will enjoy visiting and contributing to. You can be as committed, determined and relentless as you like in advocating for your position. Be persuasive, thought provoking and challenging. But be nice.
I want to thank tame_deuces and King Spew for their support in bringing me onboard and for all the time and effort they have put into making the forum better. While I am taking over most of the day to day modding responsibilities, both are retaining their mod status and superpowers, and will be supporting the forum as their availability permits. And I personally welcome their continued advice and feedback.
Again, I am happy to be here and look forward to getting to know you.

They probably have some legal obligation to report credible threats.
yup
which again, is why this is a freeroll for 2p2 and makes zero sense to not report
report it, lets the cops decide if he killed those dogs or poses a threat to others
It's very disingenuous to say he was banned simply for the use of the word sodomite.
more disingenuous than downplaying lirva threatening to kill and rape multiple people and admitting to raping children and killing dogs?
i like how discussion of this forum's failure to act on lirva is met with a "stfu rick"
NVG and IP and POG and a bunch of other subforums failed to act as well. Probably because he didn't post the offending material there.
How do we know he shot someone's dog? Does the owner of the dog post here or is there a youtube video of it that shows what to be lirva being the shooter?
For starters, I'd safely assume that a lot of posters on the internet exacerbate their own lives plus the fact that internet addiction is rampant with compulsive lying, same with gambling.
If I had to guess, this whole act is an attempt for him to break free this place that he knows is destructive to him and is going out in lirva fashion.
Probably the simplest explanation in this case although it's probably a lot closer to him actually killing dogs than you think.
Yeah, he might be a litter further than that be he's still a middle aged person now who alive and not incarcerated posting on the net.
1) lagtight and LirvA are 2 separate topics, so I don't know how to compare the disingenuousness.
2) this isn't a Politics Forum issue. You've told Bobo how you feel, and he's alerted the site owners. I'm not telling you to stfu, but maybe telling people who can do something (eg an ATF post or a PM to someone) would be more reasonable and useful. We've been over this before, but the subforums are not all linked. Telling us in Politics what's happening in OMGx3 doesn't really make sense.
you're more upset about lagtight being casually referenced than a member of this forum talking about raping and murdering other members of the forum
or you know do the very obvious and simple solution of calling up his local jurisdiction and asking if they've been investigating anyone for shooting dogs
Why do you think that? I responded to a post about lagtight because it was unaddressed, and it's about moderation in the forum I'm a mod. I didn't, at least today, respond here about LirvA as Bobo's already said what needs to be said. You have no idea what I care about or am upset about.
I agree that that's the responsible thing to do. But if 2p2 management did do that, the responsible thing is also going to be to not advertise that fact.
He has posted enough personal information for you to be able to figure out exactly where he lives if you're so inclined.
*ETA...was super easy. It's Edmond, Oklahoma, a suburb of OKC. No reports of dogs being killed there. And he might not actually live there but he posted pictures from there.
i can only infer from what you post, you've only posted about lagtight
i have had pms with people - they've been brushed off with "lirva is a good guy and just trying to defend himself"
sa summed it up best
so obviously i'm going to continue calling attention to it until people who are in a position to act understand that this wasn't "if you want to defend yourself this is how it's done" kind of post but rather a "you guys are coming at me and i'm going to rape and murder you all"
I completely agree with you and think you should keep bringing it up, just not here. As much as you don't believe us when we said this before, each subforum is independent. Posting in Politics about what happened in another subforum or as a way to message the site owner just doesn't work. There is a subforum dedicated to things like this: https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/55/ab...
i'm mostly mad with jmitch for his cover up, most people are wholly unaware to the extent of the crazyness of his recent threats because jmitch carefully trimmed vast sections of it out- which i feel is a major factor in people like max failing to act - max clearly saw the edited version - otherwise there's absolutely no way anyone with any grasp of the english language could view that post as a declaration of self defense, which is how max interepreted it
and i really don't care about subforums, this is where the eyeballs are, it's already gotten attention, it'll continue getting attention here - posting someplace new in a quiet corner will just help it get ignored
Admins/mods have the ability to see all of the edits made to a post. Whether that happened I have no clue but an edit doesn't render the previous versions invisible.
This is false.
posting this here since max asked me for evidence and this exceeds the dm post length
no i'm just stubborn and latch onto things
i think there's a very clear and obvious thing that needs to be done here and am not going to cease until it is done
I think you can do it now - Luckbox just have you his likely jurisdiction.
This was true.... until it wasn't.
The owners of 2+2 have seen the full extent of the recent posts of Lirva.
To think greens or even blues should do anything more than move the info up the chain of command AND advocate for action..... (this is action that has been taken already before you stuck your nose in it)
(like do you REALLY feel that a green or blue is responsible to report this to OBI ??)
lol on you then.
Only if they are interested in doing the due diligence necessary to avoid a potential lawsuit.
The lesson is you are asking the wrong people
Did you dm max to tell him you posted it here?
