Welcome to the official WPT Global thread!
WPT Global is the real-money online poker business of the World Poker Tour, and we’re about to celebrate our two-year anniversary, having launched in April 2022. After such a short time, we’re already the third-largest online poker room in the world (ranked by PokerScout.com, based on cash game traffic).
We’re joining TwoPlusTwo to share information with you, engage with the community, and answer any questions you might have.
WPT Global is special for a few reasons:
- Our modern platform has been built from the beginning to leverage AI technology. We use this in two main ways. The first is to protect the games by detecting collusion, bot use, RTA use and other forms of cheating extremely quickly. We have the best Game Integrity tech I’ve experienced in my 19 years in the industry, and a team of around 50 people using it.
- The second way we utilise AI technology is in managing our ecology. We ensure that games are sustainable and beatable by reserving seats in every game for casual players and limiting the number of seats per table that can be occupied by highly skilled professionals. I’ll go into more detail on this point later, in the below FAQ, but the net result is - we have the softest cash games you’ll find online, and typical win-rates for regs are 5-10x higher than elsewhere. (If you don't’ believe me, just try them and see for yourself).
- We have had a large liquidity pool from the very beginning, especially in cash games. This is because we partnered with a couple of successful Asia-facing poker rooms to bootstrap their liquidity. Most poker startups face an enormous challenge in growing their liquidity from scratch - this solution allowed us to launch with cash games running 24/7 and it contributes to our soft player pool. Now, WPT Global is a large poker site in its own right and less dependent on the Asia liquidity, and we’re growing our games in US Dollars all the time.
- There is enormous value on offer - our explicit aim is to pay back more to players via promotions and giveaways than any other site. Check out our current promotions here.
- Global Spins is our unique twist on the Jackpot SNG concept, with a progressive jackpot and the lowest rake in the industry (5%).

Some of you might remember me and my colleague WPT Global Peter from our previous roles. Many years ago, I was one of the first site representatives ever to engage with the 2+2 community, as the first PokerStars representative in the ‘PokerStars Software Improvement Thread’. Later, Peter and I ran the ‘Official MPN - Microgaming Poker Network...’. You can expect a similar level of transparency and responsiveness here. While I don’t promise to respond to every single thing, no constructive question or criticism is off limits.

What countries is WPT Global available in?
Currently, we have a .com licence and have not entered any regulated markets (although we will start to do so later this year). We’re open to most markets that have yet to regulate, including Canada (except Ontario), Ireland, New Zealand and most of Latin America, Asia and Africa.
We don’t (yet) accept players from the US, UK, Australia, Russia, and most of Europe. If you’re from one of these countries and want to qualify for WPT events then Club WPT might work for you!

How does the ecology management system work? Do you ban winners from playing at WPT Global?
Our ecology management system is specifically designed so that we can run sustainable games without having to penalise winners.
In cash games, our AI technology measures the skill level of every player and predicts their win rate. The model is highly accurate and continually updates so that it cannot be abused or ‘gamed’.
We reserve a number of seats at each cash game table for players that fall into one of our ‘casual player’ categories. In our most popular game (8-Handed NLHE with an ante and a straddle) we reserve six of the eight seats for casual players, which effectively means that highly-skilled pros can only occupy two seats.
Because there is plenty of liquidity, if you find yourself categorised as a pro, you can still always find a game to play at any stake, and you can guarantee yourself a seat in a great game if you start a table, since our ecology management system ensures that only one other pro can sit with you.
The system does not categorise players by their actual win rate, but by how skilled they are. If you have a great run of luck, you will not necessarily be categorised as a pro, and vice versa, you will not necessarily be categorised as a casual player if you run bad.
We find that once players get used to the system, they love it. Both pros and beginners have a better experience because we eliminate some of the common predatory behaviour that occurs elsewhere, and pros can achieve significantly higher win rates. I encourage you to give it a try!
What’s with the games in CNY currency?
Because we partnered with Asia-facing poker rooms to launch, some of our games are in Chinese Yuan (CNY) currency. At the time of writing, the exchange rate to the dollar is about 7.25 CNY to the USD. As we’ve become less dependent on the Asian liquidity we have introduced more USD games. Most cash games and all tournaments including Global Spins are now available in USD, and for those of you that want to play in the CNY games, there’s a handy currency converter in the lobby, and the ability to change the stacks to BB.

I mean just looking at that table there are clearly a couple actual VIPs sat, shouldn’t take much to conclude the mobile app VIP display has issues if it’s showing regs over them
I think that the two table startes who is getting rakeback might be a huge problem for getting the tables actually running. Not only for the obvious reasons that people lost their rakeback, but because the new system is acting as a barrier for seating at the tables.
When only the two table starters is getting rakeback you are basicly making it harder to get a table going. If i see two regulars playing HU i am very refrained from joining the table especially as the 3th or 4th person. Any reg would be aswell, because they will be playing at an disadvantage vs two other regs (probably). And most recreational wont play 3 and 4 handed. Let alone vs regulars. I think most weaker regulars wont play 3 and 4 handed. Good regulars wont play 3 and 4 handed with a handicap. So, it seems the tables never really gets going...
Soultion: if you wanna keep the **** system you got going now. You should probably give rakeback to the 3th and 4th person to get the table start filling up. My guess is when you have like 4 people at the table its much easier for recreational, weaker regulars and also very good regulars to join and fill up rest of the seats. This way you will actually earn more by giving more.

Actually the VIP icon in mobile app is not the "VIP", this is the MVP (it means the player with the highest winning on that table). But WPT make it wrong by saying VIP.

+1 for this, only 2 is not enough, I never play when there are 2 good regs already sat.
Wptalex says a lot of these accounts are bonus abuser but i dont believe it, you need 10's of thousands of hands to unblock the welcome bonus and all these accounts that we see have a few hundreds hands and have all the latest players ID
the latest players id's are 6 884 000 and it will keep going, they gonna keep having the lastest ones as weeks and months goes on
I would expect that they just deposit smaller amounts and then create new accounts every day so they get the deposit bonus + rakeback + access to all tables until they get segregated while making frequent withdrawals. I appreciate it is difficult for security to play whack a mole as there are so many of these accounts but it is really frustrating playing these guys every day.
From what I can make out they generally seem to be single tabling and have <1k hands played. Could it be there is some loophole where single tablers don't get segregated as quickly?
But yeah if it was just bonus abuse we would expect these guys to be showing up with 2K-10k hands predominantly.
Hey Alex, could there be a T$ system for tickets unused/expired? There are times when I win a ticket but cannot participate in an event and there are other times when the event's stake is much bigger than I can handle. Could there be a system to convert those tickets to tournament $ instead?
Was wondering, if I use card catcher for another site where it's allowed, can It have an impact on my wpt account?
Summer Festival finished a couple of weeks ago and so now it is time for Fall Festival! This $8.5M guaranteed series will run from Sunday 8th September to Monday 30th September, and will feature our $530 WPT500, $1,060 WPT Prime as well as the $1,000,000 GTD $3,500 WPT Championship.
Some changes in MTTs might have been seen recently, namely introducing Mystery Bounty tournaments last week. These are clearly popular and there have been some decent results already with the few tournaments we have changed over/created with that format. There will be just over $3,000,000 GTD in Mystery Bounty events during Fall Festival.
Some additional promotions for our $8,500,000 GTD Fall Festival for WPTG players:
$50,000 Fall Festival Freeroll: Participate in at least 30 events (or 30 entries) during the series to qualify for this with a 5,000 start stack. 100+ entries gets you 15,000 chips. Also playing in PLO cash games can net you an additional 15,000 start stack.

As some noticed, our table starter promo has increased to 40% for high stakes cash games and remains at 20% for other stake levels
Is anyone else having problems with the betting bar? When I hit the raise button it goes straight to all-in.

A T$ system is on the roadmap but not a huge priority. However this really will not change unused/expiring tickets in most instances. We award tickets/seats in satellites/feeders for specific festivals & events, and if such a ticket is not used it will expire - the idea is to use these, not hoard them. In very specific circumstances I will move tickets won in 1 festival to the next, but the overall rule is that unused tickets will expire. I would suggest that people do not enter tournaments that award tickets to events that they cannot / do not want to play, and that seems to solve the overall issue some might have

Nobody sitting is ever playing HU or starting a game, everyone is just trying to get a table going and get additional rakeback.
WPT need to remove that stupid HU rakeback system - it's useless, you are just creating a chaotic lobby for players that actually want to start games.
I don't see why at least the first 3 players that start a game shouldn't receive rakeback. Also you need to penalize players that open sit's table and grim/don't play HU.
just rollback to the way things were, the rake was already insanely high but traffic was steadily going up

It's 100% the same players - he never sits on the same table so I assume multiple apps
Saturday, only 3 tables of 50-100 running, and 4 of 20-40. The traffic is so low right now.
People are leaving WPT, especially bad reg, they cannot beat the game/rake and not get the rakeback too, most of my friends are playing GG right now.
The GG app is better, same rake struture and give back player a lot of rakeback. I understood why they choose leaving WPT.
And the 20% rakeback for the starters is really stupid. Now I never open table anymore, do you want to know why? Because the rake HU is too high, and I have to play alot, it makes me tired.
The one who created this "rakeback for 2 starters" is really stupid.
So funny that if I saw a table with 2 players are playing HU, I will not join them, I will find another table where I can get the rakeback for starters, so we will have 2 tables have 2/8, and soon these 2 table will disband because playing HU is too boring, if in 5-10 mins don't have anyone joining us we will stand up.
If WPT don't have rakeback for starters, of course I will join the 2/8 table, and soon people will sit when they saw 3/8(rather than 2/8), WPT will have more table 8/8.

It's my guess that they also probably agreed to prevent good regs from having constant access to the games as part of the deal.

So is the team going to reply to this? Why is there a rake increase in 50 100+ when 50 100 200 is not even considered high stakes in your filter tab. Also your 40% RB is only offered in 100 200 400 which rarely runs compared to 50 100 200. Please explain this
Still no reply to this. This thread has just been all of us giving our logical and some illogical inputs on the current status of WPT cash games but the team ignores all cash related questions besides MTT ones.
one obvious thing that can be done, is allowing just 1 table to be open for a stake, till that one is running another can be opened, like its done at stars.
and the not so obvious is give rb to 3 people, both would be great
